Fengtional Designers Talk Pantone’s Radiant Orchid and Trends for 2014

How would you use Pantone’s Color of the Year 2014, Radiant Orchid, in a living space?

Fengtional Designers used a radiant purple as the inspiration for their new yoga shala design. Purple is associated with creativity, spirituality, meditation and connection with the higher self. The shala incorporates many special and symbolic elements and will be completed this month.

What’s one cool new trend you predict for 2014?

A new cool trend is the use of deep gem colors and gleaming gold tones in lighting.

If you had an unlimited budget, what is the first change you would make to your own home or personal space?

With an unlimited budget in my personal space, I would first change the flooring. I like an industrial, modern look. Also, I would love to have a "gallery"-like space to work in.

What is the most difficult type of client to work with? What is your best advice for dealing with this type of client?

The most difficult client is probably the type that can't decide. They have lots of ideas, but are unable to choose one. Our job as designers is to facilitate the selection process, narrow the focus and provide clear options.
