What is the key to a successful interior design project?

The key to a successful interior design project is communicating with your client. If you understand what your client is looking for, then the project will flow smoothly and your client will love the finished product.

What is one important mistake many interior designers make? How have you overcome/avoided it?

The main mistake designers make is overlooking deadlines. Being an interior designer is like preparing for the grand opening of a restaurant. The main objective is to get everything ready for the clients’ move-in-date. This means the designer needs to make sure all the glitches are taken care prior to the deadline. An easy way to avoid any issues is to continuously keep track of all the deliveries and keep an organized list of everything, so if there are any problems, it can be addressed before the client’s move-in date.

Interior designing for others has shaped your career. How does your design aesthetic appear in your own home? Are you as passionate in designing your own personal spaces?

As an interior designer, our occupational hazard is to design, so needless to say, our homes are a reflection of our work. When you’re in this field, you are exposed to a world filled with art and design, so it is impossible to not bring home your work.
