A floating eco-house launched by London-based EcoFloLife—named the "WaterNest 100"—recalls life on the "Yellow Submarine."
The 1000-square-foot pod sits directly on the water for 360-degree views from the living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom that comprise the WaterNest's default space. The design allows for unique immersion with nature.
The unit is powered by photovoltaic panels capable of generating 4kWp. In accordance with the occupant's needs, the pod's interior can be reconfigured. EcoFloLife imagines that "WaterNest" could accommodate both residential and commercial needs. "It is perfect like an ecological house, office, lounge bar, restaurant, shop or exhibition floating space," the company says on its website.
Italian architect Giancarlo Zema is responsible for the innovative design. Prioritizing sustainability, "WaterNest"—constructed out of reclaimed timber and aluminum hull—is 98% recyclable, and outfitted with ventilation and air-conditioning systems that classify it as a "low-consumption residential habitat."
