Editor's Note: Vancouver real estate experienced an active second quarter of 2020, says Clara Hartree, expert real estate agent in the Vancouver and Victoria area. From January to June 2020, Clara Hartree placed in the Top 100 realtors in Canada.

The second quarter of 2020 has been entirely during the quarantine. Vancouver was never in total lockdown, as realtors are considered an essential service, and we had no problem showing our listings as long as buyers and realtors respected basic mask and no-touching protocols. Buyers continued to look because it's a fun, normal thing to do. They contacted us and looked. And bought. Of course, there were "COVID" offers. Those who need to sell take them, [but] most West Vancouver sellers don't. Prices have not gone down. Maybe in the future. The number of active listings is almost half of what it would normally be at this time of year. That keeps the market stable and slightly in favor of sellers, in some areas.
