UNStudio Smart WIND House Works by Remote Control

W.I.N.D. House, a smart project by Dutch architectural firm UnStudio, responds to its occupants' desires by way of remote control.

WIND House

Like all net zero buildings, W.I.N.D. House—which is situated in Northern Holland—harvests energy from roof-bound solar panels that sustain the home's electrical systems, allowing it to heat and cool with total efficiency. Passive aspects were incorporated into the construction to contribute light and warmth to the space, whose temperature is regulated by the clay roofing and facades. This process is aided by an air/water pump, which harvests and distributes waste. All of these features can be controlled remotely and are mutable enough to suit a growing family.

WIND House

Livability was crucial in designing the futuristic net-zero home. Bedrooms and office spaces face forested area and admit light via glass windows tinted for privacy. The living areas offer panoramic views of the village's polar setting, into whose natural beauty the design aims to integrate.
