Film star Tom Cruise—currently shooting the fifth film in the “Mission: Impossible” series—has listed his 298-acre Telluride, Colorado property for $59 million.
Situated upon a rise overlooking 14,000-foot mountain peaks, the offering includes a nearly 10,000-square-foot main house—with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a gym, recreation room, and library—and a three-bedroom, three-bath guesthouse measuring about 1,600 square feet. The gated estate also boasts a sports court for tennis, basketball, and ice hockey.
The ideal retreat for those seeking the utmost of scenic beauty and privacy, the property is immersed in rolling meadows and mature forest, and is just twelve minutes from the historic resort town of Telluride, Colorado, and ten minutes from its regional airport. Another highlight is a private trail system providing gated access into tens of thousands of acres of surrounding National Forest.
Listing agent Bill Fandel of Telluride Sotheby’s International Realty says that Mr. Cruise spent several years designing and constructing the native stone and cedar home, completing it around 1994. He reveals the Hollywood A-lister has chosen to sell the property because he hasn’t used it much over the past few years.
Back in 2007, there were reports—which the actor and devout Scientologist denied—that Cruise was planning to build a $10 million self-contained underground bunker to protect his family in the event of an alien attack. Regardless, the listing makes no mention of such a structure existing.
