“Chateau de Promenthoux,” a 19th century Swiss chateau designed by Stephen Sauvestre, one of the architects of the Eiffel Tower, will soon be up for auction, Mansion Global reported.
Offered for the first time in over 50 years, the estate, previously on the market for $48 million Swiss francs (about $47.66 million U.S. dollars), is open for previews and can be bid on via Concierge Auctions’ mobile app on June 15.
It was built circa 1896 as a summer home for Jean-Philippe Worth, son of Parisian imperial fashion designer Charles Frederick Worth, according to the property listing via Concierge Auctions.
On the north shore of Lake Geneva, just 15 miles away from the city of Geneva, the estate sits on 9.1 acres of forest and parkland.
There is 14,000 square feet of living space throughout four stories, with four grand reception rooms, eight bedrooms, six bathrooms, several kitchens, a library, a study, and separate accommodations for staff.
An arched stone pillar on the facade of the residence resembles the foundation of the Eiffel Tower.
The estate has a private harbor, which is known to be the largest on Lake Geneva. Panoramic views of the lake can be seen from the residence’s balconies.
