Roche Bobois, a Paris-based fine contemporary furniture retailer, will debut its newest collaboration with world-renowned Portuguese artist, Joana Vasconcelos at this year’s Art Basel in Miami. Roche Bobois has showrooms in both the Miami Design District, Aventura and Coral Gables along with 255 showrooms worldwide. As an avid Roche Bobois consumer and enthusiast, herself, Joana's house is outfitted in iconic pieces such as the MAH JONG sofa and AVA chairs.

The works will be auctioned off following the exhibition and the proceeds will be donated to the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation, whose mission is to support those who make art their life’s journey.

"Everyday life is my main source of inspiration. My works are conceived from elements, from everyday materials. As a woman and Portuguese, the know-how and materials specific to my culture are essential: the azulejos that dress both the interiors and exteriors of our buildings or the crocheted doilies that are present in all Portuguese interiors, which cover sofas, tables, or televisions. For me, this collection in collaboration with Roche Bobois represents the perfect alliance between Art, Design and Life," Joana Vasconcelos, said about the collection.

Artist Joana Vasconcelos lives and works in Lisbon and has exhibited regularly since the mid-1990s. Her work became known internationally after her participation in the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005, with the work A Noiva [The Bride] (2001-05). She was the first woman and the youngest artist to exhibit at the Palace of Versailles, in 2012. Recent highlights of her career include a solo exhibition at Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, the project Trafaria Praia, for the Pavilion of Portugal at the 55th Venice Biennale; the participation in the group exhibition The World Belongs to You at the Palazzo Grassi/François Pinault Foundation, Venice (2011); and her first retrospective, held at the Museu Coleção Berardo, Lisbon (2010).
