2014 was a whirlwind year for How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris: on top of wrapping up the final season of the hit CBS sitcom, he earned a Tony Award for his Broadway lead performance in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and got married to longtime partner and fellow actor, David Burtka.

In addition, the couple opted to move from Los Angeles all the way across the country to New York City, along with their twin four-year-olds, Gideon and Harper, and two dogs, Watson and Fred.

The family's new five-story,19th-century townhouse—which underwent a yearlong renovation helmed by designer Trace Lehnhoff, in collaboration with architectural firm Povero & Company—is located in West Harlem, near their former pied-à-terre close to Columbia University.

Scroll down for a tour of the beautifully-appointed home, while melds together a slew of classic and contemporary elements that wholly reflect the happy couple's urbane and vibrant style:

The residence's living room is adorned with a Jonathan Adler light fixture; Room & Board sofas; a high-back chair by Powell & Bonnell for Dennis Miller Assoc., nesting tables by Arteriors, and a custom Trace Lehnhoff cocktail table.

Its sleek, silver-and-black kitchen showcases Holly Hunt pendant lights suspended above a Caesarstone-top island, which comes equipped with a Wold range and hood.

The artful den is covered in Andrew Martin wallpaper and embellished with playful memorabilia, and outfitted with a desk and chair by Arte de Mexico, and a sofa by RH. Two classic guitars—a Gibson (left) and a Jean Larrivée—add further character to the room.

Gideon's room features an RH Baby & Child bunk bed, along with a Flash Gordon lithograph, a Keith Haring chair by Vilac, a Roman shade made of DwellStudio fabric for Robert Allen, and a carpet by Safavieh.
