Las Vegas Realtors say southern Nevada homes sold at a near-record pace during the month of August thanks to high demand among investors.
The Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors said Thursday that 4,693 homes and condos sold last month, up more than 600 from July numbers. August sales were also up more than 1,000 from the 3,638 homes sold last August.
The numbers fell nine sales shy of a record set in June 2009.
The median price of a single-family home sold in August was $120,000. That’s down 1.6 percent from July and down 14.3 percent last August.
Realtors association president Paul Bell says the jump in sales stems from strong demand for homes, especially among investors. He also said August has no major holidays to distract homebuyers.
