Classic Shore Club in Miami Gets a Modern Makeover

With its reputation as an oceanfront oasis, its beautiful people, A-list sightings and exquisite dining, South Beach is known worldwide as prime real estate. And with that reputation comes luxury residences, classic art-deco haunts, and a series of elegant hotels-turned-condominiums perfect for the international jet-setters who grace the South Beach shoreline many times throughout the year.

Added to that list is a Miami staple, the Shore Club, which—thanks to HFZ Capital Group and its Director of Design and Development, Thorsten Kiefer—is about to undergo a world-class renovation that will take this classic South Beach retreat from a household name to an international hotspot.

Perched right on 19th and Collins Avenue, the legendary Shore Club currently houses 309 hotel rooms. Due to the intervention of HFZ Capital Group, however, this classic haunt is on its way to becoming a leading luxury condominium building and hotel; one that brings a modern sophistication back to the heart of historic South Beach.

“We are re-envisioning the late ninetieth addition of David Chipperfield with added balconies creating very large outdoor gardens. The new central tower building will be an architectural collage that fuses the old and the new, and will also be a very different and new architecture on South Beach.” Thorsten said. “The light veil of large outdoor gardens in the sky, for example, is a very sensitive addition which still recognizes the Chipperfield design from the nineties. We do think that a sensitive juxtaposition between old and new will add to the sense of luxury the Shore Club had in its past.”

Helping to helm the new design of this old-meets-new destination is none other than Brazilian design legend Isay Weinfeld, who serves as both the project’s architect and interior designer.

“This our first collaboration with Isay Weinfeld, and his work and approach to design is a perfect fit for the climate of Miami Beach,” Thorsten said. “The collaboration has been fantastic. Isay’s design is enhancing the existing structures — he will infuse the three-acre, oceanside property with his elegant, unique and distinct design sensibility that has won him numerous accolades all over the world.”

With this exciting new renovation, HFZ Capital Group will take the Shore Club—which already boasts a history of celebrity-fueled sightings, unbelievable restaurants and a famously photographed infinity pool and rooftop spa—to the next level of luxury on Collins Avenue. Sales for the re-imagined Shore Club, which will have 100 hotel rooms and 85 elegant condominiums, will launch in early December 2015, purposely coinciding with Art Basel Miami Beach.

The Shore Club is located at 1901 Collins Avenue.
