Malaysian designers Jethro Koi Lik Wai and Quah Zheng Wei received an honorable mention for their limestone skyscraper concept in this year’s Evolo Skyscraper Competition, which called for innovative ideas on futuristic high-rise living.
Designed to eliminate human destruction of natural monuments, the imagined building would be directly integrated into the limestone hills, seamlessly melding the man-made creation into the natural setting.
The architecture is designed to reinforce the natural limestone hill with a steel frame, to allow the natural and constructed structures to rest against each other while preventing the hill from future collapse.
Intriguing features of the mixed-use development include a sky community deck, a bird nest farm, a vertical surface plantation, and a cave rock climbing area:
