What local amenities does this area have to offer (parks, community center, recreation programs)?
In Newport Beach and Newport Coast we offer miles and miles of pristine Beaches and Ocean views in all directions. The Pacific Ocean and all forms of water sports are the activity of choice, whether Surfing, Sailing, Swimming, or just walking along the beach every day of the year.
Can you describe the local school system, and what type of education children get here (private, public, charter - focus on sports, the arts, etc.)?
The schools offer many choices from great public schools to highly acclaimed private institutions for all ages and academic levels.
What is the community culture like (i.e. private, gated, urban, diverse, etc)
The COMMUNITIES offer many different options from local coastal villages with fabulous renovated cottages by the Sea to palatial newer Estates, designed by prominent architects, behind private gates.
What is transportation like to the area's major surrounding cities, or within the city?
Coastal Southern California is in love with CARS. Popular autos ranges from convertible Mini Coopers to custom Bentleys. The most important aspect of these cars is to get out and enjoy the beautiful drive on the famous Pacific Coast Highway at connects the coastal enclaves.
Is there a strong political presence or community leader involvement in this area?
We pride ourselves on being very independent and easy going, politics is not a suggested subject while enjoying a stress free day along the Beach.
Are there any local traditions that bring the community together? (sports events, charity events, sales, holiday celebrations)
Because of the year round temperate weather we have activities and celebrations all year round. A few of the highlights would be the Newport Harbor Boat Parade of Lights, in Newport Harbor, for the Christmas holidays, The annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Newport Center, The Sail Boat Racing Season and Opening Day Festivities at the Local Yacht Clubs.
What are some thriving small local businesses that make an impact in the community?
Southern California is famous for being a center of creative people and ideas. Our area is very supportive of that spirit and recognizes and nurtures the individuals who are starting small business as well as the established entrepreneurs who started their companies here locally.
What are the local property taxes like and what other financial responsibilities should a property owner in this area be prepared for?
The Property taxes are low and are based on the purchase price of a property. We enjoy low tax rates because of Proposition 13 in California. Some of our neighborhoods have Home Owners Associations and these would offer more amenities and security at a monthly fee.
