Oscar winner Jeff Bridges and his wife of nearly forty years, Susan, have listed their stunning Montecito estate for $29.5 million.
The couple purchased the Tuscan-style villa two decades ago and has since called it their primary residence while raising their three daughters. Now that the children are grown and have purchased their own homes in the area, the lovely pair is looking to downsize from the 9,500-square-foot residence that sits on 19.5 acres of sprawling California land.
The estate consists of a five-bedroom, five-bathroom main house, a separate theater and recording studio, two guesthouses, a “rustic playhouse,” and a greenhouse for orchids. The ivy-covered home was a 1988 construction, designed by Barry Berkus and featuring such stunning architectural details as exposed wooden beams, antique tiles from Italy, and archways throughout.
Perhaps what Bridges will find most difficult to part with are the Aloe trees. His wife says jokingly, “Jeff and his beloved Aloe trees…They look like Dr. Seuss plants and require very little water.”
Enjoy the estate’s exquisite horticulture while taking a dip in the oversized swimming pool complete with a waterfall, kitchen, changing rooms, and bath, or while exploring the multiple walking trails and streams the property offers. Multiple stone terraces, a pergola, and outdoor fireplace are all also ideal for enjoying the region's breathtaking views and warm climate.
