Rent J.P. Morgan’s Former Carriage House on the Upper East Side for $80,000 per Month

Built by J.P. Morgan in 1907, this five-bed, five-bath, fully-furnished carriage house has hit the rental market for $80,000 per month (a mind-blowing number, though not nearly as jaw-dropping as the amount real estate mogul Kurt Rappaport is asking for his Malibu estate, which can now be rented for nearly ten times that figure).

Morgan's stately home, located at 118 East 83rd Street, is an opulent, turn-of-the-century palace-turned-modern masterpiece. It features 14-feet ceilings, three full Toto remote bathrooms, four powder rooms, and cutting-edge, high-tech systems throughout the home. A garage, private elevator, screening room, and four outdoor spaces complete the lavish mansion.

The second floor houses three bedrooms and two-and-a-half marble baths, while the master suite fills the entire third floor and includes a lounge area, fireplace, and marble bathroom with a steam shower and deep-soaking tub.

The first floor is accessible through the private garage, or via a private, tree-lined entrance located between Park and Lexington avenues.
