Homes are amongst the most personal posessions we own. They reflect who we are and how we live, which must be considered when making the decision to purchase that first, next or additional home. To further explain, we sought the advice of HLRN expert realtor for Morris County NJ, Anne Fisher . Here are her views on the questions we asked.

When clients come to you with an idea of what they want, how do you help them refine their criteria prior to finding a match?

Important factors to consider include: price range, location, where they work, family, schools, and if they will need easy access to trains or buses. It is also good to know whether or not they are handy around the house in the event there is a perfect property for them, which requires some attention to make perfect overall.

What is the most important thing you look for when purchasing a home for yourself?

Location, downtown, walking, theatre, restaurants, parks

If you had to choose one piece of advice for first-time home buyers, what would it be?

Do your homework about where you want to live; get pre-approved for your mortgage, and know what amount you will be comfortable paying each month.

If you were not selling real estate, where would you be today?

I would likely be in another form of marketing.  I owned a direct mail marketing company for 12 years.

What would you say is your most proud accomplishment as a real estate agent so far?

I was named to the Coldwell Banker International Diamond Society, ranking within the Top 15% of agents in the company.  In the first quarter of 2011, I was also named one of the top 1,000 of approximately 45,000 sales associates in NRT, the parent company of Coldwell Banker. I also received the NJAR Circle of Excellence Award at the Bronze level for 2011, achieved by reaching $3m in sales and at least 15 units, or 30 units.

What property do you currently have listed that you wish more people would see?

23 Old Timber Trail, Boonton, NJ. Stately granite mansion on 4.59 private acres.

6 Robinwood Drive, Little Falls, NJ. 20 minutes to NYC! Contemporary with a great floor plan. Fabulous home with a little TLC.
