Mattel Founders’ First Barbie Dream House Soon to be Demo’ed

The 1950s home of Ruth and Elliot Handler (founders of iconic toy empire Mattel and creators of the even more iconic Barbie) can been seen as the foundation of today’s Barbie Dream House, but now the place is set to be wrecked by new owners.h

Why destroy the birthplace of ultra-glamorous Barbie? Well, for starters, the home has changed hands several times since the Handler’s have owned it, and apparently most original features of the inside have been totally gutted. Bummer.p

Apparently new owners have grand plans to build a McMansion, making neighbors even more sad to see the $2.2M Beverlywood home demo’ed.
