one-at-the-palm-2Michel Abboud of SOMA Architects has stunned us with his avant-garde designs, but none quite so much as his current project, a luxury residential property in Dubai. Abboud is New York City-based, responsible for the design of the Ground Zero Mosque, and well known for his ability to meld tangible concepts with unfathomable design. His firm—together with landscape architect Vladimir Djorovic and Japanese interior design firm Superpotato—is responsible for the most luxurious, exclusive, and over-the-top residential property currently being built in the world.one-at-the-palm-6The $2.5 billion development is composed of 90 exclusive residences that range in size from 2,700 square feet to 20,000 square feet, each of which has its own private outdoor space. An ideal location at the trunk of Palm archipelago, One at the Palm is in fact the tallest residential property on the Palm.one-at-the-palm-8Wall-to-wall glass ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, and spacious personal terraces maximize the 360-degree and bird-eye views of the Persian Gulf and its spectacular city. Designers say its unparalleled design is “crafted for the most privileged of the privileged few.” Endless amenities including a cinema, cigar lounge, luxury spa managed by ESPA, yacht club with private yacht parking, private glass infinity pools, Jacuzzis, and tanning decks more than justify the residences’ hefty price tags. We can only wait and wonder who will buy the $54 million penthouse.one-at-the-palm-3

Construction is expected to be completed in 2017.
