The iconic Spanish-style estate of fitness entrepreneurs and Cambridge Weight Plan founders, Jack and Eileen Feather, just hit the market for $37 million.

Known as Villa Eden Del Mar, the Pebble Beach property is a local landmark that once evoked descriptions like “a Spanish Palace by the sea,” according to its listing with the Carmel Realty Company. Designed by George Washington Smith, the estate "embodies the provenance of 1920s' aristocracy," said listing agent Shelly Mitchell Lynch.

Located on the famous 17-Mile Drive along the Monterey Coast, the compound sprawls on 2.8 acres and affords spectacular vistas of the jagged shore and the Pacific Ocean, accessible via stone steps.

"It would be nearly impossible to replicate this estate in this setting: its prominent oceanfront position, the footprint of four structures, its physical proximity to the ocean with actual coastal access, and its sheer size and extraordinary linear ocean frontage along the dramatic California coastline," said Lynch.

Inside, the 15,418-square-foot main house is as impressive as its setting. Espousing the lavish architectural style of southern Spain, it boasts custom laid marble-tiled floors, imposing stucco walls and high, carved wooden ceilings. A large central courtyard and a sizable terrace room complete the residence.

There are three other structures – a 3,651-square-foot oceanfront Lyceum, a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom guest penthouse and a separate 2-bedroom, 1-bath caretaker’s cottage.

The seller of the property is the trust of the late Feathers, who purchased the estate in 1972. Originally from Nebraska, the couple moved to California to start is fitness and wellness empire of gyms and salons.
