In 2015, the Brentwood, California, property was listed with Fred Bernstein of Westside Estate Agency for $55 million, the Los Angeles Times reported. Later that year, the price was reduced to $49 million, and just a few months ago, it was taken of the market.

Newly listed with a price tag of $39.95 million, the Lear estate is now offering 8.3 acres, instead of the original 10 acres

Newly listed with Jade Mills and Valerie Fitzgerald of Coldwell Banker Previews International, as well as with Drew Fenton from Hilton & Hyland, with a price tag of $39.95 million, the Lear estate is now offering 8.3 acres, instead of the original 10 acres, according to PR agency Rogers & Cowan. The listing no longer includes the three-bedroom guesthouse.

“The Lear estate is as special and one-of-a-kind as Norman and Lyn Lear,” say Mills and Fitzgerald. “This beautiful estate on a private ocean view promontory cannot be duplicated and offers the privacy to entertain on a grand scale or host family gatherings to create many wonderful memories.”

The luxurious mansion is just a few minutes drive north of Sunset Boulevard and is situated up a long, private and gated driveway. Minus the guesthouse, the approximately 14,000-square-foot residence includes the main house; staff and security offices; a gym; a 35-car garage; lush gardens and expansive lawns; a pool and spa; and a tennis court with a viewing terrace, bathroom, and outdoor kitchen.

Entered through the motor court circling a fountain, the elegant main house has––in addition to its seven bedrooms, eight full (four half) bathrooms and standard dining, family, and living rooms––a two-story library, a wood-paneled den, a professional screening and media room, and a spacious chef’s kitchen with a center island and breakfast room.

On the main level, most rooms open up to a spacious patio that overlooks exceptional views of the city, ocean, and mountains of Los Angeles and offers plentiful space for entertaining guests.
