The picturesque estate in Bethesda, Maryland where retired boxer Mike Tyson infamously lost his white tiger cub has secured a buyer for $4.6 million.

In 1995, the heavyweight boxer purchased the Bethesda property with his ex-wife, pediatrician Monica Turner, for just over $2 million. While the couple married in 1997 and eventually divorced in 2003, Ms. Turner kept the home. This residence is a notably infamous location in regards to Tyson as this is where he lost his pet white tiger named Kenya before she showed up on a neighbor’s property. In May of 2020, the Maryland home was first listed on the market for $8.5 million. When the steep asking price failed to attract prospective buyers, the cost was reduced to $5.79 million at the beginning of this year. The price was once more reduced in March to $5.25 million before a buyer secured the property earlier this week at nearly $4.6 million. Located on the sixth hole of the Congressional Country Club, one of the country’s most prestigious golf clubs, it is reportedly the highest sale at the course in history. According to listing agent Daniel Heider of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, the buyer wishes to remain anonymous and official records of the sale are not yet publicly accessible.
Beyond a gated community in Bethesda, Maryland, this gorgeous estate spanned more than 5 acres of scenic land at that time of Tyson’s purchase and now stands at about half that with 2.5 acres and a 19,000 square foot residence of seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. The interior layout presents a formal living room, professional chef’s kitchen, piano room, and cherry wood-paneled library with wet bar and fireplace. The primary bedroom suite offers its own living room as well as an additional fireplace. Decorative elements of home consist of a grand double-height entry and sweeping floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lush landscaping of the Congressional Country Club. Other luxe amenities featured are a billiards room, separate game room, sports court, swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and several covered loggias.
