Annie Potts’ Charming Home in Tarzana
Actress Annie Potts and her husband—producer-director Jim Hayman—have put their picturesque hacienda in Tarzana on the market for $6.495 million.
Erected in 1934, the gated, Spanish-style residence sits on 1.5 acres of land, enveloped in lush flora. The 6,481-square-foot home’s red barrel-tiled roof, plastered walls, fountains, and lily pond—along with its terracotta floor tiles, arched windows, and airy ceilings—are all details that reflect the incredible craftsmanship of the era in which it was built. Touting five bedrooms and six baths, the abode has a master suite outfitted with a kiva fireplace, guesthouse, private patio, and lap pool. Boasting numerous fireplaces, the property’s main rooms open out to the a large outdoor living space equipped with a full kitchen, large pool, and a spa, all surrounded by tropical foliage. Quite possibly the happiest room in the house is its cheery kitchen, which is adorned with vibrant tile work.
Friendly’s Ice Cream Monticello
Motivated purely by ambition and the desire to accomplish something big in the midst of his retirement, co-founder of Friendly’s Prestley Blake commissioned the creation of a replica of Thomas Jefferson’s Virginia estate, Monticello—the completion of which aptly aligned with the ice cream mogul’s 100th birthday.
Now on the market for $6.5 million, the approximately 10,000-square-foot home—sited on over nine acres in Somers, Connecticut—boasts 11 rooms, including five bedrooms, five full baths, and four half-baths. Its exterior is composed of handmade brick imported from Virginia, along with soffits that were custom molded to match Jefferson’s carved wooden soffits. The roof’s balustrades were also designed to appear identical to those at the original historic structure. Though the home’s interior possesses modern day touches, a few homages to the real Monticello still exist throughout it, such as a blue sky ceiling mural in the entryway that emulates the skylight in Jefferson’s dome room. The new owner will have the chance to landscape the property in the Jeffersonian way with a 1700s style fruit orchard, and vegetable and flower gardens.
Upscale Auction in Detroit Suburbs
Set to be auctioned off with no reserve on October 28th, this magnificent waterfront estate is poised on a 3.75-acre swath in Detroit’s upscale neighborhood of Grosse Pointe Shores.
The seven-bedroom, 13-bath property includes a main house, a carriage house with a guest apartment, a tennis court, a putting green, a gazebo, an indoor and an outdoor pool and spa, as well as a sports court, all situated on beautifully manicured grounds. The extra-large family room boasts its own kitchen, bar, and media space, while the home’s stunning master bedroom has its own sitting room, fireplace, balcony, and oversized walk-in closet. Comprised of three levels, the mansion has an elevator and a floating staircase leading up from its foyer, as well as 21-foot ceilings, glass walls in the living room overlooking the lake, and a dining room that can accommodate up to 26. In addition, the listing comes with 265 feet of coveted Lake St. Clair shoreline.
New York Fashion Mansion
Located in Quoque, New York and formerly known as “Belle Mead,” Rose Manor is one of the last summer cottages of the Gilded Age.
Designed by society architect Stanford White, the lavish mansion—presently asking $15.5 million—was originally commissioned by the Greeff textile family in 1906. Half a century later, Eileen and Gerry Ford, founders of the Ford Modeling Agency, purchased the property. Under their ownership, visitors’ dormitories were incorporated into the estate—guest spaces that over the years temporarily housed some of their top models, including Lauren Hutton, Beverly Johnson, and Jerry Hall. Four years ago, the Fords sold the 15,700-square-foot home—which is sited on 3.4 acres and is comprised of 31 rooms, including 11 bedrooms and 10 baths—for $5.4 million to investment banker Simon Rose. In addition, a 2,000-square-foot carriage house rests on the compound, along with a six-car garage.
$125 Million Historic Montecito Estate
Sited on a 237-acre ranch in Montecito, this 29,483-square-foot, Monterey colonial-style house is boldly rocking a whopping $125 million price tag.
Comprised of 30 rooms including 12 bedrooms and 13 baths, the Reginald Johnson-designed house is sprawled out between two natural, uneven terraces, and has many enviable amenities including an English-style pub downstairs accessible via a hidden door (a necessary implement, given that the home was created during the Prohibition era). Believe it or not, the California estate—which features a fine equine facility—has been in the same family for nearly 90 years.
