Each a short walk to white sand beaches below, the villas are nestled on a hilltop among 403 acres. Custom-fitted with wood native to Costa Rica, as well as Spanish and Italian tiles, they all have vaulted ceilings, fully-equipped kitchens, outdoor barbecue areas, private pools, and verandahs overlooking the jungle and Pacific Ocean.

The largest villa, “Casa Guanacaste,” has seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms; while the smaller two consist of two bedrooms, with enhanced living spaces, including a poolside cottage in “Casa Barrigona” and a loft in “Casa Dorada.”

Playa Barrigona, the nearby beach, is a haven for sea turtles, which travel thousands of miles every year to lay their eggs on the sand.

The property is nearby the quaint villages of Samara and Nosara.

Gibson, known for directing and starring in the film Braveheart, listed the property three years ago for the same price. Earlier this year, he sold a four-bedroom house in Sherman Oaks for $2.1 million, as well as a cottage in Agoura Hills for $683,000, according to property records.

His medieval-esque Malibu manor listed for $17.5 million last month.

The listing is held by Robert Davey of Plantacion Properties and Rick Moeser of Christie’s International Real Estate.
