A Greek Revival-style townhouse that is rumored to be where E.B.White’s fictional character, Stuart Little, lived, just sold for $23.09 million, Mansion Global reported.
Tucked in New York City’s Gramercy neighborhood, the 26-foot-wide red brick residence was designed by architect Alexander Jackson Davis with two lanterns outside the front door, high ceilings, hardwood floors, five decorative fireplaces, a chef’s kitchen, and a garden with a sitting area. It also comes with a key to Gramercy Park.
A sign at the front explains that the townhouse was once owned by former New York City mayor and publisher James Harper.
The stoop of the residence is also well known for being where Bob Dylan sat for the cover of his album “Highway 61 Revisited.”
The townhouse at 4 Gramercy Park West, represented by Robert Falcone and Tracie Hamersley of Douglas Elliman, was not listed on the market. Lisa Simonsen of Douglas Elliman represented the buyer, 4 Desolation Row, LLC.
