Known since the 1800s as “Willow Oaks Plantation,” a bountiful plantation in Eden, North Carolina is asking $11.5 million, Luxury Listings reported.
Built by William Byrd II in 1825, the estate, also called “Land of Eden,” has preserved 1,770 acres of its original 26,000 acres.
In 2001, Arthur Dick, president and CEO of AdvantaClean, a Greensboro-based environmental service company, bought the property for $2 million as a recreational second home for his family.
The 7,722-square-foot house has been renovated, according to Dick.
It is situated on Dan River, where whitetail deer are known to roam, and nearby two six-acre fishing lakes, with plenty of opportunity for fishing, the listing states.
The plantation is also abundant with sunflower fields, ducks, doves, quail, and wild turkeys, among other wildlife.
The listing is held by Elliott Davenport of Hall and Hall.
