Listed with a $72 million price tag, a glorious waterfront mansion, “Villa Maria,” is the most expensive home for sale in the Hamptons this summer, according to press materials.
Situated on 15 acres in Water Mill, the 1919-built, landmarked residence was designed by architect Frank Freeman for shipping magnate Edward P. Morse. It has been fully restored and modernized since in a six-year restoration project by architect Andre Tchelistcheff.
"Molded and inspired by the array of quality and taste of a time that has long passed, Villa Maria epitomizes the splendor of an estate that cannot be duplicated and would be likely unattainable today," says Cody Vichinsky, who has the listing with Zach Vichinsky, both cofounders of Bespoke Real Estate.
The four-story residence’s 20,000-square-foot interior comprises 11 bedrooms, including six master suites, and 12-and-a-half bathrooms, plus an all-weather tennis court, a pool with two pavillions, ornamental gardens, and 1,100 square feet of waterfront.
On the grounds, there is also a carriage house and a guest cottage, which are both covered in Greenstone slate roofing.
