A planned 20,000-square-foot, single-family home is expected to be the largest mansion ever built in New York City, Mansion Global reported.
At the corner of Hubert and Collister streets, the three-story building at 11 Hubert St. in Tribeca has been approved by the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission, the listing states, to be gut renovated, with two stories added at the top––making it 70 feet tall, 50 feet wide, and 100 feet deep. Offered at $35 million, the residence will cost an additional $15 million to renovate, according to listing broker Andrew Azoulay of Douglas Elliman.
This will be architect Maya Lin’s first home design. Lin, who designed the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at 21 years old, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.
The home includes a double-height 6-car garage, a commercial-grade elevator with access to all five levels, as well as the roof terrace; and an additional 5,000 square feet of outdoor space.
In addition to its standard rooms, there is a stadium seating movie theater, a pet room, a game room, a wine room, a catering kitchen (plus a prep kitchen and main kitchen), and a security office.
The nearly 3,000-square-foot master suite spans an entire floor with his-and-hers closets, bathroom suites, and a duplex closet with an internal staircase. There are three more master suites, two guest rooms, a staff suite, and a house manager office.
An 82-foot Olympic size swimming pool, half basketball court, retractable squash court, spa with a hot tub, cold plunge, sauna and steam room, and full-floor gym are among the residence’s exclusive amenities.
The buyer may change any aspect of the interior layout, with the option build higher.
According to city records, the seller bought the building for $13.3 million from architect Winka Dubbledam in 2014.
