Legendary singer-songwriter Neil Diamond just bought a home in Malibu for $7.25 million, according to real estate blog Yolanda’s Little Black Book.
Overlooking a private cove in the small community of Blue Whale Estates, just off Pacific Coast Highway, the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom estate was originally priced at $7,495,000, according to the listing. At 4,692 square feet, it is the largest among only four other homes in the gated community, Yolanda noted.
Property records, credited by Yolanda, indicate that a blind trust purchased the home, reportedly on behalf of Diamond, last November.
A stone pathway leads to tall, glass front doors, which open to an enormous great room surrounded by glass walls and breathtaking ocean views, as seen in listing photos.
Sliding doors open to an outdoor patio with an infinity pool and spa and a barbecue area for entertaining.
Inside, there is a gourmet chef’s kitchen, a dining room, a master suite, and four additional bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, office space, a gym, and a sauna.
The beach can be accessed via a private path just below the property.
The home’s previous owners, Taiwanese businesswoman, Michelle Wong, and her husband Ben Fan, bought the home for $8.15 million in August 2010.
Diamond paid approximately $4.7 million in 1997 for his 10,000-square-foot, multi-acre compound located behind the Beverly Hills Hotel. Before that in 1996, he sold his Spanish-style estate on South Mapleton Drive for $5,300,000 to producer and director Sir Ridley Scott, who still lives at the property.
