With several of Pablo Picasso's paintings having been sold for well over $100 million dollars, it's simply a steal to acquire a piece from the world-renown artist for under $10 million. It's especially a steal when several of the paintings by an artist responsible for some of the most coveted pieces in the art world can be purchased for less than $10 million and are also accompanied by a French castle.
This is the case with a collection of works found in the "exceptional historic castle" known as "Château de Castille." Located in a provence in Southern France, Castille is currently on the market for the first time in more than 50 years for $9,728,902.
The 8,611-square-foot château, built sometime in the 13th century, is situated on a lot with just under five acres of land. It boasts seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, several kitchens, and a couple of drawing and dining rooms, while a park, a staff house, a formal knot garden, a tree-lined driveway, and multiple garden ornaments of a historic nature are featured throughout the grounds.
There are also five "monumental" frescos––classified as “historic monuments" by the French State––that had been installed by Picasso, who had been a frequent visitor of the castle, due to his friendship with Douglas Cooper. Cooper, a well-know art-collector and owner of one of the "most important 20th century art collections," purchased the home in 1950.
