"Bulwarra," the home belonging to Cate Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upto is currently on the market for $14.75 million (20 million AUD).
Described as an eco-friendly family retreat, the home in Sydney is nestled in between 3,642 square meters of land (a little more than half an acre) that’s located in the exclusive Hunter Hills area. The waterfront estate, which overlooks the Lane Cone River, has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a chef’s grade kitchen, a home office, a library, and a guesthouse. Other cool features include a custom-built staircase, a skylit dressing room, a cellar, a pool pavillon, a tennis court, a trampoline platform, and direct access to a nearby river.
Built in 1877, Bulwarra, underwent a multimillion dollar makeover of sorts in 2007. Nadine Alwill of Alwill Design and Dr. Stephen Lesiuk of Lesiuk Architects were behind the renovations.
Cate Blanchett, the two-time Academy Award-winning actress, is best known for her roles in films like The Aviator, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and The Lord of the Rings. Her husband Andrew Upto is an accomplished playwright, screenwriter, and director.
