Just a short walk from London’s royal Kensington Gardens, a charming, brick estate, once belonging to former British prime minister, Sir Winston Churchill, is on the market for £29.5 million, or roughly $36.5 million, according to the listing.
Sited on one of Kensington’s most prestigious streets, the four-story, 5,763-square-foot home at 28 Hyde Park Gate is complemented by an exquisite west-facing garden stretching 55 feet, along with a terrace.
The interior of each room––multiple living rooms, a dining room, a drawing room opening to the garden, a “plant room,” and a wine cellar, among several others––is embellished with a refined color scheme and lavish décor.
There are seven bedrooms and four bathrooms, one of which is an en suite bathroom within the master bedroom, which also has a dressing room.
Churchill, who lived at 28 Hyde Park Gate with his wife baroness Spencer-Churchill, died in the home on Jan. 24, 1965. He served as the prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945, and again, from 1951, to 1955. Also a notable writer, as well an artist and officer in the British army, Churchill won the Nobel Prize in literature in 1953. In 1963, he became the first of eight others to be made an honorary citizen of the United States.
