Rachel Swann Reveals a Slew of Notable San Francisco Spots

The best spot(s) to:

Go shopping:

Fillmore Street, Chestnut Street, and Union Street are all fun and festive! These three great streets are as diverse and eclectic as they come—you can shop for anything! They are each lined with big and little names, local boutique shops, cafes, and restaurants. Being in close proximity to one another, it’s easy to hit all three in a day, or spend the weekend and visit one each day.

Meet new people:

The Ferry Building: The Ferry Building Marketplace is located along the Embarcadero, at the foot of Market Street. It is the center of a transit hub that connects all of San Francisco's neighborhoods and the surrounding bay communities. The marketplace is accessible by MUNI, BART and ferry boat, while the historic trolley cars (Line F Market) stop directly in front of it. One of the busiest areas in the city, it’s what I call the San Francisco Boardwalk. People walking dogs, running, shopping, dining, and more. Stop at the Ferry Building to have fresh oysters and sample local wines and cheeses. Grab a park bench or swirl a glass of wine while sitting on the patio of Epic Roast House for great water and bridge views. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, you can browse the Farmer’s Market for fresh meats, fruits, vegetables, and more.

Soak in a beach view:

Crissy Field: the Presidio's "front door." The northern waterfront offers spectacular views, unparalleled recreational opportunities, and the chance to glimpse rare birds feeding on native plants and frolicking in the restored marsh.

The shoreline once housed the first air coast defense station on the west coast, famed for innovation during "aviation's adventuring years." Today, it is the most visited area of the Presidio, with visitors enjoying imaginative, new uses inside historic buildings, or exploring the wild open spaces restored by the National Park Service and Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, with generous support from the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund.

Host a large social gathering:

Lafayette Park: one of the cities best parks for people, kids and dogs alike! There’s also the Bently Reserve, which has been called "one of the best ballrooms" in North America. The space is lavish and holds so much San Francisco history and architecture. A legendary spot to host just about anything!
