Matilde Sorensen Talks Family Business, Vero Beach Vacationers and Downtown

It's safe to say that it's a family affair at Sorensen Real Estate. What are some pros and cons of working alongside family? 
I do not believe there are necessarily cons, but there are definitely challenges. I think one of the reasons we have had success managing DSRE and the brand is that each of us has defined roles. Working with family can be very rewarding. When you overcome challenges in the market and have success you are doing it together and know that even if opinions differ we all want the best for the company, agents, and staff.
 
Do you work with mostly vacationers in your business, or do you deal with more year-round residents?  
In Vero Beach we have the opportunity to work with both vacationers, winter residents, and year-round residents. A majority of our clients are referrals from previous clients...this has led to generations of satisfied clients that depend on our associates to find the right home and to negotiate the best possible deal.
 
Vero Beach has a quite a vibrant downtown scene. Do you have any favorite places downtown you always like to bring out-of-towners?
I have been a resident of Vero Beach for 40+ years and raised two children on the Island so there are many places we enjoy. To start, there are really two areas that could be considered downtown. Ocean Drive could be considered a beachside downtown, and then there is the Downtown in the heart of the city where one of our branch offices is located.
First the Ocean Drive district is home to great boutique shops and restaurants. Some of our favorites boutiques are Veranda, Very Fitting, Sassy, Loggia, Tusk and M Maison. For restaurants, we regularly frequent Bobby's, the Ocean Grill, Ninos, The Tides and The Citrus Grille.
