Fall Activities in Spring Lake, New Jersey

One often thinks the summer ends on Labor Day, but not here at the Jersey Shore. We are still open for business. Beautiful days are still drawing many to enjoy the quieter beaches along our coasts. The great thing about these local towns is that quieter beaches are the only sign of change. Our towns are always open for business and activities continue.

Spring Lake is hosting a free outdoor art exhibit this fall featuring the works of world-renowned sculptor and New Jersey native, Seward Johnson. Fourteen of Johnson’s life-sized bronze sculptures will be on display throughout Spring Lake’s downtown, from September 17 through January 1. You can take a self-guided walking tour of the sculptures, while stopping in the many boutiques to browse for treasures.

One of my favorite fall activities is the Spring Lake Kitchen tour taking place this year on October 22. It is a wonderful opportunity to see inside some of our most beautiful homes while sampling the cuisine of local restaurants. This tour sells out quickly so make your plans.

If you are bringing the kids and grandkids, they will love the Columbus Day Italian Festival and Art Walk, as well as downtown Spring Lake. Don’t forget our Spring Lake Theatre. A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream is playing in October and Scrooge will be performed in December.

Do you like all the holiday cheer? The Spring Lake Christmas Celebration Kick-off is November 26, with fun on the Avenue and a tree lighting. Another favorite is the Candlelight Christmas Inn and House Tour on December 3. Most of the Inns, and many of the homes, on this tour have historical value, and they are a delight to preview.

Hope to see you around town! Stop by for a map and restaurant recommendation, and be sure to check the Chamber website for all upcoming activities.
