Sometimes to see a waterfront, you need a vision. That was what it took to transform this property on the pristine shores of Lake Winnipesaukee in the heart of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Challenges here included that you couldn’t see or even get to the shore itself. There were overgrown trees, shrubs, weeds, no pathways, and no access to an discovered island. It was an island that was full of hidden gems of sandy beaches, a sanctuary teaming with nature, and hundreds of feet of unspoiled shoreline.
The house was a dismal mess. Such was the challenge Jennifer and José accepted for 10 years––inside and out. They have lived all over the world and have incorporated influences of European design, local sensibilities, National Park-style pathways, with a desire to preserve nature. A vision and a labor of love has transformed this neglected home on an overgrown lot, on a lake you couldn't see, with an island you couldn't get to, into an exceptional stately paradise like no other.
