What's the most popular amenity or property feature buyers look for in a summer home?
Living on the Hawaiian Islands, the very best feature for any summer home is location, location, location. People want to be able to walk or ride their bikes to the beach, the surf, restaurants, cafés, shopping, and more. [They want to be able to] leave the car at home and let the kids roam free.
If a seller was looking to renovate his or her home on a budget prior to selling, what are the top two areas in a house he or she should focus on improving? (Which two spaces—if fully renovated—could boost the seller's asking price the most?)
The first thing sellers should do is to get a home inspection report and repair any items that require fixing prior to marketing their homes. This is what sellers should spend their money on, rather than renovating something that may not [necessarily end up appealing] to buyers.
The next item I would [invest in] would be the landscaping. I’ve always said that someone could have a shack, but if it is landscaped properly, you could sell it for a million dollars! It’s all about curb appeal.
