The Ecocapsule is powered by a built-in 750W wind turbine and a 2.6-square-meter array of high-efficiency solar cells. Because of the dual-power system and high-capacity battery, the shelter will stay operable during low solar periods or wind activity.

The Ecocapsule weighs 3,306 pounds and can fit inside a standard shipping container.

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, announced its launch of Tesla Energy, the highly anticipated battery system that will power homes, businesses, and public utilities.

Homeowners makeup the the target market for Tesla’s “Powerwall,” a shield-like pack that is three-feet by four-feet in size and six-inches thick. Powerwall stores electricity from solar panels during the day, which creates light at night. It can be hung both indoors and outdoors.

Available in a selection of colors, the Powerwall could potentially help homes be completely independent from non-solar generated electricity. While it will be released in late summer 2015, the Powerwall can be reserved online currently, for $3,000 (7kWh version) or for $3,500 (10 kWh version).

According to Curbed, "Our goal here is to fundamentally change the way the world uses energy," said Musk.

Tesla’s larger system, Powerpack, targets businesses, industrial operations or public utility companies. Musk claims 160 Powerpacks can power the U.S. and two billion can power the world.

As more homeowners explore sustainable energy, there will necessarily be a greater need for energy storage. Tesla’s products may be the start of an energy revolution—one that could drastically cut homeowner and business utility bills.

Simkins told the Miami Herald, “The iconic tower will elevate the city’s brand on a global level, enhance the city skyline, and complement and enhance the surrounding community."

The building is part of a larger plan: the proposed nine-tower “Miami Innovation District” on the edge of downtown and Overtown, one of Miami’s poorest neighborhoods.

“Designed by a world-class architecture firm, this iconic tower will comply with the required regulations and will be consistent with the many illuminated structures that currently define Miami’s skyline and reflect the city’s vibrancy and growth,” Simkins stated.

Dubbed "Turn to the Future," the ambitious spinning skyscraper concept features a building with units that rotate at predetermined times, giving everybody a 360-degree view of the city. The structure would showcase apartments sliding on a spiral rail around a central pillar. Each home's gas and electric lines would automatically detach before moving and reattach in new ports at its destination to avoid fire issues, and each front door would lock before repositioning. Once the apartment reaches the bottom of the spiral, it would be whipped back up to the very top of the building by a crane.

“Urbanization has become a big trend in the world,” Kuo tells The Atlantic’s City Lab. “Because of that, buildings will become higher and higher, and more and more people who live in the lower floors of buildings will get their views blocked. Based on the results from both the Asian and the American market research, there is a [difference] in sales or rental prices between the lower floor units and higher floor units in the same building. In the future, all the top floors of buildings will be owned by people with very high incomes and the middle to lower income people will only have a limited view from their living spaces.”

Eco-conscious folks will be pleased to know that the design incorporates solar panels and a regenerative braking system—not to mention amusement rides.

Upon its completion, Zayed Crystal Spark won't only be the tallest building in the country, but also in North Africa's entirety.

The project—whose reported cost is yet to be revealed—is the pending product of a partnership between real estate developers and the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA). One of the development’s goals is to attract new investors in order to reinvigorate Egypt's economy. Real estate is a primary driver of the nation's economic growth, accounting for eight percent of the country’s labor force, and affecting more than 90 industries.

In conjunction with the announcement of the tower, the Ministry also revealed that real estate developers will soon be granted new land blocs, in order to rectify current land shortages that can delay Egypt-based investment projects.
