Montgomery Ward Penthouse

The penthouse, the former public observatory, is now on the market. Considered to have some of the best views in Chicago, the 6,400 square foot condo has four bedrooms and five baths. There are two allocated parking spaces and building services include a door person, exercise room, party room, sauna and steam room. Though still in its original state, the rooftop access has the potential to be the most stunning garden terrace in Chicago.

hollywoodglassgarage

Hollywood Hills Glass Garage

This 7,614 square foot modern house is built on almost an acre in the now subdivided former ranch of 1940’s actor Errol Flynn, Mulholland Farm.  Flynn was well known not only as one of the most romantic male film stars of all time, but as somewhat of a womanizer and his farm was notorious for its casino, passageways, peepholes and two-way mirrors.  A lover of fast women and fast cars, Flynn would likely have approved of Corbin’s two glass garages.  The interior of the home has huge open spaces for entertaining on a grand scale with glass walls through which the view over Los Angeles can be seen from one side and the lawn and garages from the other.  There are a total of five bedrooms and seven bathrooms with a large master suite, a private guest bedroom suite, a gym and media room.  The exterior also has a swimming pool and a one-bedroom guest house.  The garages, one attached to the home and the other separate, will hold up to nine very special cars.  The house is extremely private and accessed via a long gated drive.

Car collector's modern home includes glass-walled garage, built on property where Errol Flynn lived!  Now asking $8.5 million.

MacKenzie-Childs Farm Sold

After sitting on the market since June 2011, the fairy tale farm of the MacKenzie-Childs’ partnership has finally changed ownership.  Originally priced at $1.1 million and later reduced to $975,000, it was sold for $595,000, sans the whimsical furnishings, which will be sold separately at a later date.

The Mackenzie-Childs purchased the farm in 1980 for around $20,000.  After putting $1.6 million and thousands of man-hours into its restoration, it is where they started their decor business famous for its checkerboard pottery and storybook furniture.  Designers of everything from teapots to hand painted tiles, their artistic wares became well-known in high end boutiques and department stores across the nation.  Though their company is now in the hands of others, they have started a new company, Victoria & Richard Emprise, and run it from their current home,  the last remaining Ellis Island ferry boat, "Yankee."  Today, decor aficionados cannot see a black and white checkerboard without thinking of these fine artists.
