Hollywood is gearing up for the 85th annual Academy Awards, and when the industry's biggest starts gather at the Dolby Theatre this Sunday, they'l be greeted with some beautiful design touches. Designer Madeline Stuart has created a stunning green room space for Architectural Digest, where stars will relax backstage. From a 120-foot chandelier to an 18-foot Oscar statuette, we're taking a sneak peek at the high-end decor!
Stuart reveals that the space will have an Art Deco feel to it, and will pay homage to the 1930s and set designer Cedric Gobbins, who also created the Oscar statuette. "We wanted it to be both glamorous and comfortable," says Stuart of her creation to People. "We used fabulously luxurious fabrics that encourage lounging and relaxing – even for just a minute!"
"My goal was to create a space where contemporary stars wouldn’t be surprised to bump into Cary Grant or Katharine Hepburn," adds Stuart. Take a look!
