The pandemic stricken world is much different than the world we knew before, and as we emerge on the other side we’ve all got some collective readjusting to do. The Covid19 pandemic influenced just about every aspect of our lives and will continue to exert its inescapable influence in the materializing post-pandemic climate. When the coronavirus drew us into our homes and away from our office spaces for just about a year, we were able to reflect on our needs and desires for an effective and welcoming office space; now, more than ever, we understand the importance of community and togetherness. Our needs for reintegration and adjustment, and for both public and private work areas, are validated through the cutting-edge “Club-Office” designs of the Swiss brand Vitra.

Vitra has revolutionized the office space by making the now-familiar experience of private, focused work available in the office whilst still introducing ample areas that encourage collaboration and employee connection. In a moment where we are all easing our way back into “in-person” life, Vitra has cultivated designs that make this transitional period into normalcy as seamless and harmonious as possible.

Vitra’s designs, by Edward Barber, Jay Osgerby, and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, are all about flexibility. They separate the office into three distinct areas and include ductile couch setups conducive for semi-private work, free-standing seating arrangements that exist to promote face-to-face conversation, and more closed-off individual work areas.

Vitra’s design has mastered the blend of privacy and maintenance of safety guidelines, with the excitement, collaboration, and engagement that should exist in a workplace. By replacing dreary office cubicles and sterile long-desk layouts with these welcoming and intentional workspace options, Vitra has helped us settle back into office life in a safe and exciting way.

Virgil Abloh has cemented himself as one of the great minds in today's design and fashion industries by turning his craft into art without limits or borders. Now, the Artistic Director behind the iconic Louis Vuitton fashion house is venturing into the world of art and furniture with a new art installation in partnership with Vitra. The TWENTYTHIRTYFIVE exhibition will be on display at the Zaha Hadid-designed Fire Station on the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein, a mere four miles away from Basel, from June 12th through July 31st. In collaboration with Vitra and Art Basel, the highly-anticipated exhibition will feature an art installation and three limited-edition home design products.

The exhibition will showcase an art installation divided into two segments -- "Past/Present" and "Future." The latter focuses on the concept of how homes will function in the year 2035 and will bring to life Abloh's vision of the future. Mixing living and working spaces together, Abloh tackles the concept of furniture usage and embarks on the journey of exploring what the world of design will be like.

The three limited-edition home design products include an armchair, inspired by a 1950s Jean Prouvé design; a Petite Potence lamp with orange lacquer finishes; and a ceramic block, the most conceptual piece in the collection, forming the structural element of the TWENTYTHRITYFIVE exhibition.

However, the Berlin-based Studio Aisslinger has created a fabulous new swinging sofa for Vitra.

The Swing Sofa's designers Werner Aisslinger and Nicole Losos said the piece allows workers to relax and contemplate so “overly forceful pushes are prevented by a spring integrated into the upper beam, which prevents the swing from exceeding its natural bounds within the office.”

This piece is available in either white or yellow, with a metal A-frame structure. The sofa got its debut last week at the Orgatec trade fair in Cologne, Germany.
