American actress and lifestyle guru Gwyneth Paltrow has called Brentwood, California home since the 1970s. As a child, she lived with her famed parents, actress Blythe Danner and late director Bruce Paltrow, in their humble Brentwood abode. In 2001, the current owners purchased the property for $1.15 million. Now, for the first time in 20 years, the former Paltrow residence is being listed on the market for a price of $3.2 million.

At the age of 11, Paltrow’s family moved from California to the east coast where spent her teenage years in a Manhattan townhouse that her parents owned from 1984 to 1992. Their former Upper East Side residence was also listed on the market recently at $15.5 million. While Paltrow rose to fame in the films “Shakespeare in Love,” “The Royal Tenenbaums,” and “Emma,” she is primarily known in contemporary society as the founder of controversial lifestyle brand Goop. Paltrow reportedly still resides in the Brentwood area of California where she grew up.

Built in the 1940s, her childhood home spans 2,419 square feet and includes three bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Stepping inside the East Coast traditional, the living room presents a cozy fireplace, wainscotting, and French doors for indoor-outdoor living. While Rhimes initially referred to the Santa Barbara Mission style architecture as “ugly,” the home has undergone substantial renovation with the help of architect and builder Bill Baldwin. The original 1923 design by Elmer Grey has since been restored to its former state as an Italianate villa with stone carvings and luxurious interiors executed by the White House designer Michael Smith.

Located in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, Rhime’s renovated estate spans 11,749 square feet and includes seven bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. The property consists of multiple structures but centers upon the three-level primary residence. Entering the foyer, the extravagant home highlights marble flooring and a dazzling chandelier. In 2016, Anthony Bourdain first rented the luxe Manhattan apartment for $13,000 per month. The space became home to the travel documentarian for two years until his unfortunate passing in June of 2018. A mere two months later, the celebrity chef’s former residence was placed on the market at a price of $14,200 per month. The space was rented out only a month after its listing. However, three years after Bourdain’s passing, the residence is once more being listed on the rental market. This time the home is being offered at a reduced price of $12,000 per month. Bourdain also owned an Upper East Side apartment with his then wife Ottavia Busia that sold for $3.3 million about a year after his passing. A documentary film revolving around his life titled "Roadrunner" is set to be released on July 16.

Bette Midler and her husband, Martin von Haselberg, are moving from their Upper East Side penthouse, which was listed for $50 million in September 2019.

Midler and her family have lived in the 14-bedroom home since the 1990s. Midler revealed that it was time to downsize after her daughter moved out. The 7,000-square-foot apartment is spread out over three floors in a famous Emery Roth designed building on Fifth Avenue. Besides the 14 bedrooms in the unit, there’s also a private elevator which opens to a large, spacious gallery.

The 70-foot entertaining space has high ceilings and features a dining area, living room, and renovated eat-in kitchen with custom wood cabinetry, marble countertops, and high-end appliances. The office and guest bathroom are also located on the main floor.

The chairman of Ferragamo USA, the stateside arm of the famed Italian fashion house started by Ferragamo’s father, and his life Chiara are moving back to their native Italy. With sons off to college and plans to relocate to Tuscany, the family does not anymore need the 15-room co-op.

The two-floor residence combines the eighth and ninth floors of 655 Park Avenue with a winding staircase. The apartment, which claims some 5,800 square feet, came to be in separate installment, however. Ferragamo purchased a single unit in 1993 and then another in 1996 before combining them into a home of five bedrooms and seven baths.

Since its creation, though, the duplex has not undergone any major updates, having preserved its old-time and Old-World charm. The listing with Nest Seekers International’s Chase Landow and Ryan Serhant, nonetheless, comes with a pre-approved plans for renovation.

The Charles, a luxury Upper East Side residential tower, has closed two penthouse units for a record-breaking $58.635 million, combined.

Penthouse One’s $37.94 million closing price has made the residence one of the highest priced on the Upper East Side. The spacious 12-bedroom, 12-and-a-half bathroom quadruplex features 12-foot ceilings, a custom-built interior private elevator, and terraces on two levels.

Penthouse Two, which closed for $20.695 million, is an eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom duplex featuring an interior circular staircase, a 1,200-square-foot dressing room and 11.5-foot ceilings. Both multi-floor penthouses feature amazing city views.

It’s incredibly residential with great restaurants and it's continuously changing for the better. They’re calling it the new Williamsburg. And because of the Second Avenue subway, people are investing because they foresee the value appreciation.”

As one of New York’s top real estate brokers (in 2012 he ranked 15th), surely he can sell a pricey condo—and his own personal brand. And that's the naked truth.

Comedian Joan Rivers' $29.5 million asking price for her Upper East Side penthouse has been no laughing matter.

Rivers, often called a “queen of mean,” was famous for ripping nearly everyone, including herself via self-deprecating zingers only she and Rodney Dangerfield mastered. She mocked red carpet celebrities about fashion faux pas. She shredded men, women and stereotypes. She unloaded on controversial issues of her time (gender, race, sex, fashion, etcetera). No one was safe when Rivers tossed out her two cents—and it was hilarious.

The only thing Rivers couldn’t unload on the people was her Upper East Side Manhattan apartment at 1 E. 62nd Street. Listed for $25 million in 2009 and $29.5 million in 2012, Rivers’ triplex penthouse was on and off the market for years (she finally took the listing down last year after failing to find any takers). Why didn't it sell? Likely because Rivers wouldn’t budge on the price and her apartment décor was better suited for Marie Antoinette than modern millionaires post-2010.

As one real estate executive stated in a 2009 New York Times article, the décor was “unlikely to work in her advantage.” Another real estate expert recommended Rivers hire a decorator to “bland” it up because looking past the apartment’s interiors requires a lot of “imagination,” a quality most buyer’s lack.

While Rivers acerbic wit was surprisingly current for an octogenarian, her extravagant apartment is more old-fashioned, an impressive product but of a bygone era—just like a good movie musical. The nostalgic appeal may be there, but is anyone still buying it? In the Times article, Rivers described her home as “Louis XIV meets Fred and Ginger.”

Rivers’ 5,200 square-foot palatial apartment features four bedrooms, five bathrooms, wood-burning fireplaces and two reception rooms. The apartment is dominated by Renaissance themes and a giant ballroom with 23-foot ceilings and gilded columns. The opulent home features terraces, marble statues, cast-iron accents, fancy chandeliers, large mirrors, ornamental ceilings and moldings, tapestry rugs, heavy or lacy draperies, pastel walls, a private elevator, a library and an office where Rivers kept thousands of typed notecard jokes stored in large filing cabinet, alphabetized by topic. A computer just wouldn’t look right in this home.

Rivers was born Joan Molinsky in Brooklyn. In her apartment complex, she was called Mrs. Rosenberg (referring to her former married name). According to The New York Times, Rivers served for 25 years as her condo board’s president, a title the comic took seriously. She was active and even proud of her recommended improvements for the building’s lobby.

Now, Rivers has gone to a new home—and if there’s a heaven, she will decorate it anyway she pleases. Then, she will certainly have the last laugh.
