As the saying goes, big things come in small packages, and this tiny home proves that sentiment. And this ultra-deluxe miniature home also proves that housing for our changing America now includes tiny shipping-container homes customized with luxe finishes, designed with the intention for the homeowner to experience daily luxury living.

Photo Credit: weeHouse by Alchemy Architects

This prefabricated tiny home is comprised of two main structures—a main house and a partnering guesthouse/master bedroom. The main house is comprised of two sleek, open-sided storage containers -yes, the same steel storage containers used on cargo ships that are built to withstand any type of weather. Here with this home, two storage containers were fused together to create a single 640-square-foot primary boxed home.

Photo Credit: weeHouse by Alchemy Architects

The high-end, minimalistic home is set on two concrete foundations nestled between two knotty oak trees and overlooks the most expansive view.

Photo Credit: weeHouse by Alchemy Architects

The structures feature low-maintenance oxidized steel facades and nine-foot-tall sliding glass walls built into custom steel containers. The interiors have oiled oak cabinetry throughout; the floors and ceilings, including the shower stalls, are constructed from ipe wood.

Top-notch and long-lasting, ipe wood is also resistant to water and harsh weathering.

Photo Credit: weeHouse by Alchemy Architects

The main house features a whitewashed oak bed box in the middle of the space, which serves to divide the space in two: the open kitchen, dining room, and living room on one end of the box, and the private bathroom with shower and bedroom on the other. Sliding glass doors connect the interior to an outdoor porch that welcomes the most dramatic landscape, adding to the home's decor.

Photo Credit: weeHouse by Alchemy Architects

This high-end tiny home was swiftly assembled on-site, and in the most ideal location that embraces the most fantastic views.

Photo Credit: weeHouse by Alchemy Architects

The 330-square-foot master bedroom/guest house is a smaller version of the larger structure. A sizable whitewashed oak wardrobe bifurcates the space, with the bedroom on one side and the private bathroom on the other.

The housing market of Singapore is filled with small housing units--also known as "shoebox units"--that are 500 square feet or less and housing six people. According to Singapore's Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), at the end of the 2011 year there were 2,400 shoebox units in the city-state and it estimates that by the end of 2015, there will be more than 11,000.

The main reason behind the success of these units is the scarcity of space and rising home values, which leaves people with no other option but to opt for these small housing units. The growing concern by the government lies in the rising trend of developers building these units and the people staying in them. And this concern is beyond valid: The areas around the shoe box units were not built to sustain the extra traffic, water use and electricity that comes with a higher population that lives in the towers housing small units.

Architecture magazine Atlantic Cities noted; "The URA recently announced a new set of rules discouraging new developments outside the central part of the city that consist primarily of these smaller units. The rules, which will take effect in November, acknowledge that shoebox units are wanted and needed in the city, but officials are hoping they can limit just how much of Singapore becomes concentrated with towers full of small apartments and many, many residents."
