Manhattan isn’t lacking for views of holiday decorations from the busy streets, whether it’s the fashion-centric windows on Fifth Avenue, the Rockefeller Christmas Tree, and the many markets that pop up around the city. However, some lucky residents have a bird’s eye view of some of the borough’s most iconic decorations. Here are seven luxury residences with the best holiday-focused views in the city to help you get into the holiday spirit.

The Bryant

Residents at The Bryant have a front-row seat to the Winter Village and ice-skating rink in Bryant Park, one of the best places to do holiday shopping in the city. With a tree lighting on Thursday, December 5, holiday shops and free ice-skating, The Bryant, and the Winter Village, are truly in the center of the city.

The Bryant, the first residential building in New York City designed by the award-winning British architect, David Chipperfield, is one of the most exciting urban residential architectural accomplishments in recent history. Wrapped inside and out in signature terrazzo stone, residences at The Bryant are a study in exacting architecture with custom-designed millwork, floor-to-ceiling windows which open to Juliet balconies, and continuously high ceilings throughout. Situated on verdant Bryant Park, at the city’s geographic center, and high above the new boutique Park Terrace Hotel, every residence in The Bryant dominates a corner of the tower and owns panoramic skyline or park views. There is no more convenient address in Manhattan: The Bryant is steps from Fifth Avenue shopping, the vibrant Theater, and West Side Gallery Districts, Midtown Business District, and minutes from Downtown’s thriving restaurant and culture scene.

111 West 57th Street

The views from 111 West 57th Street are unparalleled, with views over the entirety of Central Park; with a location directly centered on the Southside of Central Park, residents are perfectly positioned to watch the New Years Eve fireworks, as well as watch the miniature skaters on Wohlman rink in the southeast corner.

111 West 57th Street represents a commitment to the quality of craft, history, and philosophy behind New York City’s classic skyscrapers. The graceful tower, designed by SHoP Architects with interiors by Studio Sofield, will rise to a soaring 1,428 feet when completed. The historic Steinway Hall, originally built in 1925 by Warren & Wetmore, is currently being reimagined and integrated with the modern new tower as remarkable residences and amenities. A façade of terra cotta, glass, and bronze filigree will bring back the materiality and details of historic New York towers while taking advantage of the latest technology to create new standards of excellence in engineering and fabrication.

Park Loggia

Located on Broadway and 61st Street, at the nexus of Columbus Circle, Lincoln Square, and the Upper West Side, Manhattan’s most iconic destinations are right outside your door. Holiday shoppers only have to walk a few blocks to the Columbus Circle holiday market in the Park, or to take in the beautiful “Holiday Under the Stars,” which is set to music in the entrance gallery of the Shops.

25 Park Row and The Woolworth Tower Residences

Photo Credit: Chris Coe/ Optimist Consulting

City Hall Park is one of the most historic and beautiful New York City parks, and always decorated with care for the holidays, with flora and fauna in the center of the park. Both 25 Park Row and the Woolworth Tower Residences, which bookend the park, have amazing views over the winter wonderland.

15 Hudson Yards and 35 Hudson Yards

Both 15 and 35 Hudson Yards overlook the brand new Plaza, including Thomas Heatherwick’s Vessel and the Shops at Hudson Yards, which will be decked out in their holiday finest.

Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Rockwell Group, Fifteen Hudson Yards’ 88-story tower features an elegant silhouette, formed by four graceful arcs of glass.

35 Hudson Yards designed by David Childs and Skidmore Owings & Merrill with interiors by Tony Ingrao of Ingrao Design is home to 143 exclusive residences, 22,000 square feet of private amenities, a world-class Equinox club and spa, an Equinox Hotel with more than 200 rooms, and ground-floor retail space. This exceptional limestone tower is the tallest residential building at Hudson Yards—and thus will offer sweeping panoramic views of the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline.

The National Landmark Woolworth Tower is one of New York's most iconic skyscrapers and was once the tallest structure in the world when it was completed in 1913. Commissioned by F.W. Woolworth and designed by Cass Gilbert, the beacon of Downtown Manhattan has endured years of renovations and restorations—inside and out— which includes the restoration of the terra cotta detailed facade, decorative railings and the installation of Landmarks Commissioned approved new windows that are inspired by the original design.

Photo credit: Chris Coe, Optimist Consulting

Cass Gilbert, the original architect of the Woolworth Building, was the primary inspiration for Thierry W Despont’s Landmark reinvention.

The entry bay is inspired by original Cass Gilbert drawings and is enhanced by a double-set of custom metal and glass doors and an illuminated glass marquee with bronze architectural detailing. Newly installed, technologically advanced high-speed elevators exclusively service the tower residential floors, bypassing the offices. Some bespoke touches include bronze elevator doors with tracery and cabs finished with walls of illuminated glass panels in oil rubbed bronze frames.

Starting on the twenty-ninth floor at an elevation of approximately three hundred and seventy feet are just thirty-four exclusive residences, each individually crafted by the Office of Thierry W Despont, the world’s foremost designer of extraordinary restorations and opulent private estates. Mr. Despont also oversaw the Statue of Liberty restoration, led the restoration of the Claridge’s London hotel, and is rejuvenating the legendary Ritz Paris.

The Pavillion Residences boast dramatic spaces with cathedral ceilings, clerestory windows and private terraces with northern and southern exposures.

The interiors highlight baronial splendor with dark herringbone oak floors, solid maple panel doors, soaring ceiling heights—up to seventeen feet— and opulent marble bathrooms. The kitchen, which was also designed by the Office of Thierry W Despont also features statuary marble countertops and backsplashes and master chef ovens and gas cooktops. Bringing the tower into the 21st Century is a list of advanced technology such as Lutron integrated lighting systems with push-button control panels and individualized heating and cooling options for each room.

The real castle in the sky is the Pinnacle Penthouse, which is located on floors fifty through fifty-eight. Encompassing the legendary crown of the building, the penthouse presents a new level of luxury living. Residences are greeted by a two-story living room with a fireplace and three exposures, perfect for entertaining guests. As with all the rooms in the penthouse, grandeur is an understatement. The reimagined spiral staircase leads to the private outdoor observatory and is like having a staircase to heaven in your home. Due to its elevation, the penthouse has sweeping views of Manhattan, from the east to the west and everything in between.

It doesn't stop there. The building's amenities are also just as impressive. The Woolworth Pool, which was originally commisioned by F.W. Woolworth and reimagined by the Office of Thierry W Despont, is now finished in Bisazza Mosaico and has been upgraded to include a sauna and hot tub. The Wine Cellar and regally designed tasting room are also spaces that have been brought back to life and includes private wine storage for each residence and is climate controlled at the optimal wine storage temperature. The building also features a fitness studio and the Gilbert Lounge, which is designed for discreet entertaining.

New York is home to several national landmarks—and several more historic buildings that are still standing today, and have been since the 1600s. From the iconic Flatiron building and Plaza Hotel to the Woolworth Tower, these buildings tell the tales of New York's past and are now making way for its future. Today, neo-gothic architecture is a mask for newly converted 5-star residences, which on the inside is outfitted with the latest residential amenities, opulent furnishings, and modern technology. Here are four historic buildings that have been converted into jaw-dropping residences, we can't get enough of.

The Woolworth Tower Residences

The Woolworth Tower Residences, developed by Alchemy Properties, are 33 loft-like condominiums that encompass floors 29 to 58 of the iconic, landmarked Woolworth Building—originally designed by Cass Gilbert in 1913 as a commission from retail magnate F.W. Woolworth. The residences are reimagined with exquisite finishes designed by Thierry Despont, who is known for his work on the restoration of the Statue of Liberty and makeover of the Ritz Paris Hotel and Carlyle Hotel. Alchemy Properties has paid homage to Frank Woolworth by restoring original details to reflect the building's glory days, including a $22M restoration of the striking terracotta facade, while simultaneously updating residences with modern-day conveniences; including a coffered ceiling that was restored and relocated from Frank W. Woolworth's private office. Additional amenities include the Gilbert Lounge and entertaining area, a wine cellar and tasting room, modern fitness center and fifty-foot lap pool.
