Design Solutions is a team of top Miami interior designers and high-end architectural experts with a long-standing reputation for turning luxury residential and commercial spaces into distinct lifestyle destinations that reflect each client’s identity and vision.

As a result of COVID, we are spending significantly more time in our homes. While stay-at-home orders have relaxed, lingering concerns over our safety keep us from venturing out as often as we would like. Therefore, it should almost go without saying that your home decor should make you feel comfortable, and truly at home. Part of that sense of comfort comes from who you are. Your decor should reflect your personality.

So, how do you decide what style or styles best match you? Do the unornamented sleek lines of mid-century modern tempt you? How about the clean, easy-going minimalism of Scandinavian? Or perhaps you are more of a cool brash industrialist. If your answer to any of these questions is "yes," then the authenticity movement may be just what you need.

What Does it Mean to be Authentic?

The choices we make in designing our living spaces reflect who we are as individuals and have the potential to inspire those who visit our homes. The furniture we choose, the color palettes we implement, and even the dominant shape themes we use say something about how we view and approach the world.

Authenticity is about making choices that enlighten you and fit the personality you want to portray. The key is to spend time with colors and shapes, to explore furnishings and understand their materials, textures, weights, and colors so that you know what truly speaks to you. Only then, can you build a design scheme that feels authentic and inspiring!

But who am I?

A great deal of research has gone into understanding how the choices we make speak to our personality characteristics. One immediate way to plan your design scheme is to understand how "you" matches with design elements.

Colors, for example, can speak to our characteristics. People who love blue tend to be reliable and sensitive. The preference for tidiness and their desire for stability suggest that elements of unornamented minimalism or the weighty furnishings of traditional might match well with their authentic style. On the other hand, those who enjoy purple are often artistic, unique and may be perceived as arrogant. People of this element might enjoy the more unusual lines of a zig-zag chair or the quirkiness of an eclectic style.

Shapes can also tell us something about our psychological make-up. Based on Susan Dellinger's book on psycho-geometrics (and yes, that is apparently a field), people who are drawn to squares typically do not like surprises, are organizers and seek a sense of security - traits that connect well to more traditional styles like classicism. Round lovers are more forthright and outgoing and match well with the eclectic sense of style. Look out lovers of curves and waves!

Squiggly lines suggest the non-traditionalist who is creative, motivated, independent and sexy. These traits of the young professional often match well with urban styles like industrialism and modernism.

Even overall design schemes say something about who we are. Drawn to Scandinavian design? Chances are you're friendly, stylish and interested in culture. Tend toward the modern? You are likely driven, organized and professional. The traditionalist is poised and elegant. The minimalist is introverted and efficient. But remember that authenticity is about finding all the parts of yourself, so that one style does not have to define you. If you feel like your personality traits bridge certain styles, then try blending the styles to find what works for you!

Just be Yourself

Authenticity is about knowing and embracing your personality traits and the ways they connect to the design you love. Don't feel locked down by any one trend or by styles that seem chic but make you feel like a visitor in your own home. Take a look "inside"... both with yourself and your home. Do not be afraid to make home decorating choices that truly say, "this is the real me."

Dr. Humza Arif is one of South Florida’s native cosmetic and restorative dentists. A devotee of art and architecture seen through the lens of dentistry, Dr. Arif provides full mouth rehabilitation encompassed in an unsurpassed clinical experience. Through his elevation in the dental space, so too has the profile of clientele that travel to sunny South Florida. “The people are as eclectic as the city’s architecture and art. We create an experience made tangible in every smile and every experience my patients go on to create on their own thereafter. It’s an ongoing gift that maintains humility in service to my patients.”

Haute Design: When did you first recognize your own passion for design?

Humza Arif: For as long as I can remember, I have always had this natural attraction towards design. An expression through architecture, materials, and structure set the foundation for a career in dental medicine. It is a tapestry of both design and the human connection in its purest of forms.

HD: How would you describe your office's design aesthetic?

HA: Inspiration for our office space came with the intention of returning to a pure and elegant artisan experience. Our aesthetic was a wonderful collaboration with Yodezeen Architecture. The particularity in choice of material and color coalesced seamlessly just as the evolution of our oral architecture has: raw, simple, and perfect. This experience sets the foundation for an elevation of natural aesthetics through the work we do at kliniko. It is truly something to behold.

HD: What does the elegance and style of the kliniko office add to the clients' experience?

Nature has given us the best gifts - to feel, to smell, to touch, to see... each one of our senses was considered at kliniko Miami dental office. This fusion creates a new medium to experience the art of dentistry. The patient-practitioner relationship returns to its purest form and through it, appreciation for a beloved craft.

HL: What is your vision for the future of kliniko?

The vision for the future of kliniko is to remain committed to our mission and values as a highly reliable organization in healthcare - which is to serve our community for its oral healthcare needs. We want to do this while contributing to the beauty of our South Florida community by way of beauty of form and function with each of our patients.

Remodeling or building a house or a workspace is not an easy task. Hiring the right people to help you is the key to making your vision become a reality. It is a common misconception to use the terms interior designer and interior decorator interchangeably. There are major differences that make each qualified for specific functions.

While designers create functional spaces within a building, decorators embellish the space with decorative pieces, such as furniture, rugs, and accessories.

An Interior decorator garnishes spaces that already exist by helping their clients make decisions about best fitting style, color palettes, furniture, art, and accessories. If your space does not require structural changes such as adding new walls and electrical wiring, then an interior decorator is the best fit for you. They are the correct choice if your space simply needs visual updates.

Unlike an interior decorator, an interior designer works with creating new interior spaces. A designer creates an appealing space and strategically studies how to create a functional and methodical environment to satisfy their clients’ needs. They use technology to carefully create virtual plans to work hand in hand with construction teams who carry out the design. If you want your space to be a reflection of your personality and style while also functioning in a way that corresponds to your lifestyle, then hiring a designer is the right fit for you.

When it comes to hiring a designer or a decorator, one of the main concerns is the cost. Contrary to what most think, hiring a designer can help you understand exactly where your money is going, as well as help you work your space with items that best fit your budget. You will indeed have an additional cost of a designer's fee, but you will avoid spending money on a piece of furniture that looked amazing in the store but did not fit your living room, or painting your walls five times because you cannot find the right color palette. A designer or decorator will not only benefit you financially but also save you time by using their experience and expertise to anticipate obstacles that might come up along the way.

Haute design has a wonderful network of interior designers who can help you make your space perfectly fitted for your lifestyle and your needs. You can find these top designers at https://dev.hauteresidence.com/designer/

Meet the new trending style which is taking over our Instagram pages with a flavor of its own. Combining originality and the space millennials felt the safest at is the concept behind the Grandmillenial decor style.

This unexpected style comeback, which was initiated by writer Emma Bazilian in a trend piece, brings homey and nostalgic pieces featuring ruffles, frilly pillows, white and blue china, skirts on furniture, drapery, and a lot of needlepoint.

The combination of furniture created from dark stained wood and abstract art creates a vintage with a modern look. Patterns are foremost when it comes to Grandmillenial decor, highlighting classic prints such as chintz, toile, and plaid.

In a time when being different and original is so valued, Millennials, which range from the mid-20s to late 30s, have favoritism with design trends that are considered by most old and outdated. Grandmillenials are trend-averse, and very attracted to entertaining, a major aspect of the decor style. The popularity of the trend was furthered thanks to shared images on social media displaying fancy dinner parties and exuberant tablescapes.

With the Grandmillenial decor style, there is the risk of making the space too cluttered, excessive, and too granny-like. The purpose of the decor style is to have an antique feel that is layered and classic at the same time. The thoughtful use of colors, patterns, and items is critical. The key to success with Grandmillenial style is to keep the color palette uniform, so the environment feels consistent and cozy instead of tumultuous.
Interior design just got a whole lot better, The Expert is an innovative company that connects anyone with top interior designers. Designers from all over the world are connected with potential clients through video consultations via Zoom. The Expert eliminates barriers to interior design, such as the need for a high budget, a need for a full-service requirement to gain access to personalized advice, and guidance and support from an expert designer.

The Expert is designed for anyone in need of advice from top-tier interior design experts. Interior designers connected through the platform are also available for bigger, long-term projects.

“Whether you’re looking for an expert’s eye to help you conceptualize your space from scratch or seeking a second opinion to help guide your own efforts, our Experts are here to support you,” stated on The Expert website.

During the video consultations, interior designers will offer guidance, support, and advice. The consultations are designed to help those seeking advice, questions, and want to put the space together. Additionally, clients can determine and select a designer for a full-service project.

“We derive more value from getting the hard questions answered by a top Expert and then proceeding to execute that knowledge to achieve their design objectives,” stated on The Expert website.

The Experts are selected to showcase every style and need. The designers demonstrate high-end style, aesthetics, and leadership. Expert profiles with portfolios, rates, and offerings are on The Expert’s website.

People can cancel or reschedule their video consultation up to 72 hours before their appointment for a full refund.
