The Miami Design District announced the arrival of its first new Class A office building, The Ursa. Combining museum-quality art by Daniel Arsham with ten floors of office space, The Ursa will transform the work experience in its unique environment.

The Ursa is being developed by Miami Design District Associates. It is a joint venture between Dacra, L Catterton Real Estate, and Brookfield Properties. The fifteen-story building houses ten floors of office space. There are two retail spaces available on the ground floor and outdoor areas on every level. Included on each floor are a private balcony and floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Also, the rooftop features an indoor/outdoor garden deck that all tenants can access.

“The Ursa is an exceptional addition to the Miami Design District. In keeping with our development approach, our emphasis was creating something that truly enhanced the built environment and added to the overall experience of being in this unique community. Bringing a dynamic office building offering to the Miami Design District is an important next step in the neighborhood’s evolution and we are so excited to watch it unfold. We know the District has so much to offer and businesses want to be a part of what we have built here. We cannot wait to welcome them,” said Mathieu Le Bozec, Managing Partner, L Catterton Real Estate.

Arquitectonica designed The Ursa to fit within the artistic neighborhood of the Design District. It features monumental artworks incorporated into the building’s façade. Famed contemporary artist and founder of architecture and design company Snarkitecture, Daniel Arsham, was inspired by Greek and Roman sculptural reliefs when creating these artworks. The Ursa’s interior art and furniture were also created by Arsham.

“Having an almost life-long personal presence and relationship within the Design District it’s an honor to be invited to collaborate with Dacra on The Ursa. The integration of the surrounding tropical landscape with world-class architecture, contemporary art, and design sums up, to me, what is special about Miami and this neighborhood specifically. I expect this building to become a landmark to the city and an important example of how art and architecture can coexist in exciting new ways,” said Daniel Arsham.

Located at 30 NE 39th street, The Ursa is situated in an ideal location. Tenants will have access to the restaurants, stores, and cultural institutions of the surrounding Miami Design District. Direct accessibility to I-95 is another convenient aspect of the building’s location.

The Ursa is expected to be completed by fall 2024 and is now leasing. For more information visit theursa.com.

Interior designer Justina Blakeney has grown something of a cult following since she burst onto the scene back in 2009 with the founding of Jungalow. In the years following, Blakeney's blog became a lifestyle brand. This week, the Jungalow founder announced that she has officially teamed up with retail giant Target for a new home line called Opalhouse.

"I believe that good design increases the quality of life," said Blakeney, as she revealed the good news to her 502 thousand instagram followers. "This is an incredible milestone for me and my team, and working with Target to bring to life these nearly 300 pieces was truly a pleasure, an honor and just really, really fun."

The distinct boho flair for which Jungalow has gained so much fanfare is present throughout the Opalhouse home line. The first iteration of the Opalhouse Collection includes bedding, furniture, wall decor, bath products, wallpaper and more.

According to Blakeney, her debut collection with Target will be available at most store locations as of June 13th and on June 26th on Target.com.

For a preview of the entire collection, click here.

An innovative shopping and dining destination just opened in New York City’s newest and most exciting Hudson Yards neighborhood. The Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards is a one-million-square-foot retail center offering an unparalleled collection of shopping and dining experiences found nowhere else in the city—including leading brands in every category from luxury to fast fashion and first stores from digitally native brands.

Courtesy Related Oxford

Developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group, the new shopping district is also one of the most connected shopping destinations in New York, with connections to the High Line, a dozen entrances from 10th Avenue, 30th Street and 33rd Street, and the No. 7 Subway line is just a few steps from the entrance. Situated in the new Hudson Yards neighborhood, the retail center is surrounded by 14 acres of public space, new cultural landmarks, 4,000 modern residences and state-of-the-art commercial office space for diverse, leading companies.

Courtesy Related Oxford

On the inside, there are over 100 stores, including a 190,000sq. ft. Neiman Marcus and New York’s first Forty Five Ten, an outpost of the Dallas-based boutique, along with all the favorites from FENDI to Tiffany and Co. and more. The dining collection is almost as extensive as the retail collection, with restaurants and food concepts co-curated by Chef Thomas Keller and Kenneth A. Himmel. The culinary experiences provide New Yorkers, residents, visitors and employees with everything from early morning coffee to lunchtime salads, and from casual cocktails to celebratory evening dinners. Every level has food and beverage offerings so when you’re tired of shopping, head to Queensyard for lunch, or Bluestone Lane for coffee.

Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, The Shops And Restaurants pay homage to the industrial past of the West Side. Inside, steel and dark wood evoke rail yards that once dominated the area and natural stone floors and exposed support structures contribute to rough-hewn, urban elegance of this vertical neighborhood. Greeting guests at the entrance is an enormous honeycomb-like structure known as Vessel. Designed by Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio, Vessel is the centerpiece of the Hudson Yards Public Square and Gardens. The climbable staircase features 154 intricately-interconnecting flights of stairs, 2,500 individual steps, and 80 landings. Standing 150 feet in the air, Vessel offers the public a one-mile vertical climbing experience and unique views of the new neighborhood.

During the Grand Opening Weekend of Hudson Yards, numerous public performances will take place along with retailers inviting shoppers to celebrate with special events such as made-to-order C101 sneaker bar at Coach and collection launches at Cartier, Piaget and much more.
