First, broadcasting live from the Aston Martin Residences sales center, Haute Living’s Deyvanshi Masrani started "Kitchen Encounters" by hosting a panel with three of Miami’s top design and architecture experts Katie Gutierrez, Natalia Neverko, and Sandra Diaz-Velasco, each of them providing tips on the best ways to make use of one’s kitchen, as well as what makes the design of the Aston Martin Residences Kitchen special. Mariana Lima, in-house Broker Associate at Aston Martin Residences, also joined the panel, with an Aston Martin Vulcan behind her. The car, valued at $3.2 million, will be a gift for the buyer of the triple penthouse at Aston Martin Residences.

Immediately after, Gavin Rossdale, international rock star as the frontman of the British group Bush and cooking aficionado, shared a live cooking demonstration, hosted by Haute Living’s Laura Schreffler. Bush recently released their latest album, The Kingdom, on which Rossdale told a few stories of how it came together and streamed performances the band has done this year. During his live demonstration, he said, "If you put love, care, and attention to every ingredient, you really elevate it." Click here to watch and read more about his performance during “Kitchen Encounters."

Highlight quotes from the panelists:

Katie Gutierrez: "A home is put to the test in terms of functionality, storage, usability and layout in kitchens and bathrooms. The Aston Martin Residences kitchen is a great model of what it would look like to have everything working and look beautiful at the same time."

Natalia Neverko: “I absolutely love the design of the Aston Martin Residences kitchen. The way it's designed, its color combination, the white and gray, is my favorite. It’s done with the latest technologies so there’s no question about it. I love the minimalistic look."

Mariana Lima: "Aston Martin Residences is eight minutes walking from Brickell City Centre, two minutes from Whole Foods and Zuma. You have the whole lifestyle around you, but also the peace of the water, overlooking Key Biscayne. It's really the most connected area in town."

Sandra Diaz-Velasco: "This [building] is a testament to the Aston Martin brand. The kitchen is the heart of the home, but everything has to be related to the architecture. I like how it integrates the interior and exterior; that's what a dwelling has to have."

When it comes to kitchen designs done well, one must go to the experts. The feel, look, and use of a kitchen are at the top of the list of things to tend to in the home, especially since so many of us have spent more time than ever at home lately. While restaurants were largely closed off for dining in around the world during the quarantine, our culinary talents were learned, enhanced, or even perfected. In that spirit, we got together with our Haute Design partners to showcase some of the lovely kitchen designs they have done and detail them in their own words.

B+G Design - Giselle Loor Sugerman

We were honored to have our two-time clients ask us to help create a 3rd home, their new primary residence, for them, their three teenage boys, and their lovable dogs. The kitchen is open to the family and the proximity of the breakfast room. A butler's pantry to keep all the messy stuff hidden when entertaining and concealed pantry, mud room with a bench for taking off shoes, backpacks and placing sports equipment. It also has a desk area for the mom.

Ovadia Design Group

Photo Credit: Courtesy of Ovadia Design Group

As one of the most used rooms in the house, we wanted to make sure this exquisite kitchen felt like so much more. By utilizing warm tones and modern clean lines, the architectural details throughout the space are able to shine. The mix of materials and textures accentuate the understated elegance of the overall space while adding depth and interest.

EOLO A&I Design

This kitchen was part of the gut renovation of a 1960s-era condo with a stunning ocean view. The clients, a family of five, wished for a large, welcoming, and functional space to entertain guests, seamlessly integrating the kitchen with the living and dining areas. Our goal was to transform the outdated, closed-off kitchen into a lively, flowing space where the family and their guests could enjoy the view and each other’s company.

Natalia Neverko Design

Photo Credit: Courtesy of Natalia Neverko Design

Modern Kitchen in Residences by Armani/Casa. A great kitchen design starts from space planning. To get maximum use of your kitchen space, you have to organize every drawer by using a Multipurpose Cutlery Tray Insert, lids holders, and plates organizer. Small details will make a big difference in the organization of your kitchen. Bottom pullout drawers are very popular in the modern kitchen design and will give you more storage space.

Goddard Design Group

Photo Credit: Mark Jackson - Chroma

Every home has that one spot where everyone gathers, and in this penthouse, it is definitely the kitchen. In creating this space, Chris Goddard of Goddard Design Group opted to construct a large central island that can comfortably seat up to six for dinner or be transformed into a cocktail-buffet for evening parties. The kitchen was upgraded with Viking and Subzero appliances and features honed travertine countertops and lacquered cabinets fashioned after a Ralph Lauren navy blue blazer. The elevated fireplace of antique brick exudes a warm vibe for all family and guests.

Pedini Miami

Photo Credit: Courtesy of Pedini Miami

Pedini’s signature Dune Collection is designed to give your kitchen a stylish, sophisticated feel that will transform your entire home. Featuring a modern aesthetic defined by its distinctive curved structure and all-white glossy lacquer, Pedini’s Dune kitchen design is the perfect luxury choice for any contemporary home.

As millions of people have shifted to working from home in just the past couple of months due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, having a comfortable and functional home office is arguably more important than ever. A space within your home that nourishes productivity and efficiency makes the working hours more pleasant.

With that in mind, members of the exclusive Haute Design Network gave us a look at some of their home office design projects, detailing them in their own words.

Angus|McCaffrey

Alice McCaffrey, Angus|McCaffrey Interior Design: In this custom built home for a family of five, the art is the hero and the launchpad for many of the rooms. Enter into this sophisticated man’s study and one can’t help but be struck immediately by the strength of Ellsworth Kelly’s Dark Green Panel. The print takes center stage amidst custom built-in cabinetry punctuated by linear polished nickel hardware and accents. The man’s study balances dark handsome walls with glints of polished nickel and chrome. The green of the Ellsworth Kelly piece is echoed once again by the green Edelman Leather seen on the vintage barrel chairs by Coup D’Etat. The glass and steel desk by Ralph Lauren home seems to float effortlessly over a geometric rug by Stark Carpet. On the desk, the vintage bronze sculpture by Claude Lalanne adds a wonderful contrast to the linear theme with its warm tones and organic figurative form adding another artful punctuation to the room.

Giselle Loor-Sugerman, B+G Design: Throughout times like these we truly begin to realize the importance of a multifunctional space. This particular space was designed for a client with the intention of providing a home office feel along with all of the perks that come with an entertainment area. We incorporated a segmented home office that has open access to billiards, state of the art media system, and beyond. Another piece we find vital is a pop of color, especially with a room that has a neutral color palette. We like to incorporate fresh and unique artwork to bring the space to life. During a pandemic, it is essential to have a comforting space that doubles as an effective workspace.

Cari Giannoulias

Cari Giannoulias, Cari Giannoulias Design: This home office was created for an advertising executive to compose some very memorable campaigns while pursuing his other passion for music. We thoughtfully gave this room a monochromatic canvas to house his collection of pedigreed and unattributed vintage guitars. The custom-designed walnut desk and credenza were finished in the same color as the floors for a tone on tone presentation. Although sleek in appearance, both pieces are highly functional housing a computer, printer, files and cords. Adorning and completing the room is a collection of personal memorabilia and family photos for that final personal touch.

Chris Goddard, Goddard Design Group: This home office was designed as a workspace, but also an area where my clients could escape the hustle and bustle of their daily lives. I chose a rich, deep color palette paired with custom lime-washed and cerused oak paneling to create a cozy English vibe. The room is adorned with a trove of antiques, most notably the partner's desk, huntsman-styled inkwell, double-horned candelabra, brass bar cart, and vintage decanters and trophies. An original work by Chloe Early, painted on aluminum, was placed over the sofa to give the room a flair for the modern.

Designs By Human

Joe Human, Designs By Human: We created this home office for our client to be a space to get work done, but also double as a space he would feel comfortable relaxing in and playing a game or two when taking a break. I wanted to frame the view of the city and incorporate several masculine materials, one of which is a leather wall with hand-stitched details. The desk itself is a granite that I specifically sourced out to be "soft" to the touch but also durable when it comes to ink and pencil writing. I had the desk "floating" off of the wall to allow for maximum flexibility below, whether that is adding multiple file drawers, printers or just leaving it open for future needs. We custom-designed the desk along with shelving above to house the various collectibles our client has. It was important to have a mixture of decorative displays to keep the space stylish but also fun and not so corporate office. After all, it is a home office and you want to be comfortable at all times in the space.

McKinlay Rose Interiors: This elegant home office is carefully designed as both a calming retreat and serene workspace. Custom built-in shelves and cabinets include a maple wall unit designed by McKinlay Rose Interiors and built by a local woodworker. The unique hand-painted glass tile backsplash adds depth and character to the back wall. Upholstered furnishings are draped with high-end textile tone on tone fabrics. The neutral shades and the purity of white opulent walls have created a striking contrast with the hand-scraped walnut wood floor. Aesthetically pleasing and comfortable, this elegant home office serves this family well.

Gabrielle Aker, Oh Beauty Interiors: When designing home offices, we put our clients' intent at the forefront of the design process. Are they looking for an inspiring space, a calm oasis, a productive den, or a creativity-sparking haven? In this home office, located in Downtown LA, we wanted to create a space that sparked creativity, brought nature in, and honored the industrial architecture of the warehouse in which it resides. We created a wall sculpture using sand-blasted driftwood branches and pampas grass to transform an otherwise modern chandelier, making sure the space felt raw and organic.

When choosing to look to the professionals in home design, Natalia Neverko, Founder and Principal Designer of Natalia Neverko Design, Inc. says it's important to know exactly what you want and need. Natalia Neverko Design is a high-end full-service architectural interior and interior design company that tailors each home design to the clients’ personality and specific needs.

Home Improvement

With regards to interior design, and exactly how our interior space makes us interact within the space, it’s important to consider the materials, colors and light. Many of these factors can be carried out on a budget or they could be done expensively – it’s important to comprehend how much you are prepared to devote to your home design. Most of us start with the fundamentals we are in need of then choose to include on, collecting occasionally, before our interior design is regarded as “complete.” It’s important to involve some type of budget which means that your bills are something your household can live with.

Budget Estimation

Your interior design budget will be greatly influenced by how big the room is (or size of space), the kind of furniture and furnishings you intend to purchase and your desired timeline. Your individual style will also affect the budget.

Even in situations where you want to take on most of the inside design yourself, seeing an interior designer can be a wise investment. When you will be adding up-front costs, learning from an accredited professional will probably limit problems for you later. Many interior designers are appointed not to only furnish the space but make interior changes. For example, you might want additional electric powered work done for lamps or want to change the entrances and exits of an area. Interior designers can draft plans and retain the services of subcontractors to complete the task. Before you get started assembling your project, consider the next factors which may are likely involved in your home design budget.

The expenses of an interior design job can vary widely with regards to the scope of the project. Having specific ideas at heart before starting is key for avoiding overruns. Any ambiguity may become a potential way to obtain higher costs down the road. Do some homework beforehand and be honest with yourself in what you want and need for the room. Within your contract, you can a layout of most plans detailed right down to drawings of your desired designs.

Trump Royale, Interior design, Interiors

Compromises

Keeping yourself within budget sometimes means reducing on certain things. Top-of-the-line materials not only carry a higher materials cost but they could have an increased shipping fee, much longer lead time and perhaps a higher installation cost. If your budget is small, you’ll want to see all the expenses associated with your preferred materials or home furniture before you purchase.

Whether you’re moving into a new home or remodeling your current one, the experience offers an ideal opportunity for custom interior design. “You can transform your dreams into a truly unique reality,” designer Natalia Neverko says. As the founder and principal of her eponymous Miami design firm, Neverko provides a wide range of design services, from planning and concept development to purchasing and installing materials.

See more of this project https://www.natalianeverko.com/projects/trump-hollywood-ph-2-hollywood-beach-fl/

Architectural perspective. Neverko’s design career began with art school. After getting an intermediate degree in interior design and a bachelor’s degree in architecture, she went on to study and work in Poland and Italy. She then moved to Miami and, after honing her skills at respected architectural and design firms, started Natalia Neverko Design.

See more of this project https://www.natalianeverko.com/projects/one-turks-caicos-islands/

Eclectic design. If you’re crazy about contemporary style but your spouse is more comfortable with the classics, don’t worry; mixing and marrying styles can result in dramatic solutions to design challenges. For couples with different tastes, for example, Neverko suggests combining modern furnishings and lighting with one area that showcases a more traditional style. “Eclectic design works when you make the overall design harmonious,” she says.

Ready to make an adventurous design statement? Read Neverko’s tips below for achieving luxurious drama and beauty in unconventional ways.

See more of this project https://www.natalianeverko.com/projects/trump-hollywood-ph-2-hollywood-beach-fl/

Draw From Your Architecture

Look for inspiration in the shape of a room or in a design element such as a ceiling soffit or unique stairs. “You want to go beyond applying colors and fabrics,” Neverko says. “You might want to construct a wall first or remove one. Each room has a unifying concept, but when taken as a whole, all the rooms talk to one another.”

In this oceanfront penthouse in Hollywood, the team installed rectangular chandelier lighting in both the kitchen and the dining room, seen here. “The kitchen is a somewhat closed space, and this lighting opened up the ceiling,” Neverko says. “This element repeats in the dining room, connecting the two rooms.”

See more of this project https://www.natalianeverko.com/projects/ocean-four-sunny-isles-beach-fl/

Use Unusual Accents

You’ve probably used accessories such as drapes, pillows, rugs and artwork to create a focal point. You also can use paint, wallcoverings and even flooring to draw the eye. Neverko likes to use tile to create an accent wall or floor to redefine the shape of a room, emphasize a certain area or connect the room with an adjacent one.

In this colorful ocean-view bathroom in Sunny Isles Beach, Neverko set the freestanding tub on an oval of white, bubble-shaped floor tiles. “It looks like the bathtub is floating in a sea of bubbles,” she says. “The accent further emphasizes the panoramic view because you are surrounded by water inside and out.”

Incorporate Natural Materials

If you’re inspired by nature, bring natural materials into your home. For paneling and cabinetry, choose wood with an interesting grain. Use natural stone for floors and walls. Rugs made of textured wool or linen, and wallcoverings made of natural fibers, provide a look that’s both inviting and airy.

For instance, Neverko used natural stone and wood paneling, along with lightweight linen draperies, in the beach-style design of this oceanfront apartment in Sunny Isles Beach. “You have cool, neutral colors, but also warmth from the textures,” she says. “This is an example of how you can blend modern and natural design elements.”
