Highly acclaimed musical artist Elton John and his husband, filmmaker David Furnish, have acquired a sprawling real estate portfolio with properties across the globe. The couple owns various estates in the U.K., lavish homes in the south of France as well as in Venice, Italy. In the United States, they also own a mansion sized condo in Atlanta, Georgia but reportedly spend most of their time at an impressive two-house compound in Beverly Hills, California.

Now, John and Furnish are adding yet another property to their portfolio with a second Beverly Hills residence. This newfound abode is actually the property immediately neighboring to their longtime residence. The home was purchased from a family who has reportedly owned the house for decades before selling it to John and Furnish in an off market for $8.5 million.

Located in the coveted neighborhood of Trousdale Estates, John and Furnish’s newfound abode spans 5,343 square feet with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Built in 1968, the single story home captures a midcentury modern feel yet has been modified over the years. The exterior walls have been painted a mustard yellow and the property is walled and gated for security. As this deal took place off the market, information regarding the interior layout remains largely unknown. However, the property does offer a near half acre of exterior landscape. Out back, the space presents a swimming pool, lush lawn, and spacious motor court for multiple cars.

Cindy Crawford was deemed one of the most recognized supermodels in the 1980s and 1990s gracing the cover of multiple magazines, walking runway shows, and serving as the face of fashion campaigns. She has since expanded into other ventures and in 1998, married nightlight industry businessman Rande Gerber. Gerber co-founded the tequila brand Casamigos with acclaimed actor George Clooney in 2013. In 2017, Crawford and Gerber purchased a mid-century modern home in Beverly Hills for $11.6 million through a trust. However, the two are now bidding farewell to their humble abode listing it on the market for an initial price $15.995 million last August. Since then, the price has been reduced to $14.75 million in May before recently securing a buyer. While the transaction has yet to appear in public records and the buyer’s identity remains anonymous, the home was last listed at $13.5 million.

Additionally, the celebrity couple have secured several other properties with two homes in Malibu, a vacation home in La Quinta’s Madison Club, and a cottage in Canada. Aside from Crawford and Gerber though, other notable names in the entertainment industry have inhabited their Beverly Hills abode. OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder and his wife, Genevieve, purchased the house in 2014 and spent almost two years restoring and expanding the property. Prior to their residence, the space belonged to film producer Gregory Goodman of “Jason Bourne” and “Captain Phillips.”

In 2019, Crawford spoke to Architectural Digest about her Beverly Hills home. “It's midcentury modern, so it's been fun putting it through our own filter. We make a lot of our upholstery,” she explains. “My husband is very, very picky about the cushion density and seat depth because he's taller.” However, Crawford also claims that Gerber “would sacrifice functionality for the look” in certain aspects of their home while her utmost priority lies in comfortability.

Built in 1959, the chic mid-century modern home spans 5,386 square feet and includes five bedrooms and 5.5 baths. The single-story space rests beyond gated walls in the posh Trousdale Estates neighborhood and has been completely renovated and restored during Tedder’s residence. The open floor plan presents four separate lounging areas partially separated by a dividing wall with sleek fireplace and wet bar. The sky-lit kitchen and adjacent dining area offer an atmosphere perfect for entertaining. The separate media room is equipped with sliding doors to provide privacy and distinct from the kitchen area. Stepping outside, the expansive exterior opens to a large swimming pool and spa with adjoining daybeds. The seating area is surrounded by a firepit, fruit trees, and art installations.

Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are no strangers to the real estate business as they are frequently involved in purchasing, renovating, and selling homes. Since 2003, the talk show host has reportedly owned 20 properties. DeGeneres and de Rossi currently appear to be gravitating towards the Montecito beach town as they have bid farewell to their Beverly Hills mansion for $45 million, their last remaining property in Los Angeles. Within the past year, the celebrity duo purchased two separate properties in Santa Barbara. The newest addition to their real estate catalog is a petite bungalow style residence purchased at a price of $2.9 million. The nearby community is also home to other renowned names such as Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Ariana Grande, Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, Oprah Winfrey and Rob Lowe.

A short distance from Butterfly Beach, DeGeneres and de Rossi’s newfound residence spans 1,691 square feet and less than an acre of land. The single-story, midcentury modern style home includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The humble abode highlights a seamless indoor-outdoor flow with glass doors and walls fitting for California. The sleek minimalist kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances, cherry wood cabinetry, and stone center island. The cooking area leads to a sun-drenched living room with fireplace. Down the hall, the primary suite is privately tucked away and offers a walk-in closet, Bali-esque bathroom with freestanding tub, and sliding glass doors leading to a spacious patio. The home also includes a second bedroom to accommodate guests. Stepping outside, the courtyard presents a fire pit, a serene fountain, and al fresco dining area for entertaining. The abundant lush landscape and exterior space offers room for a pool or guesthouse as noted in the listing.

Architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha passed away Sunday, May 23rd at the age of 92. Mendes da Rocha died in a Sao Paulo hospital of lung cancer.

The highly-awarded architect is seen by many as one of the greatest Brazilian architects, coming second only to Oscar Niemeyer.

Born in 1928, Mendes da Rocha was part of an iconic generation of modernists and was globally regarded as a major architect despite having rarely built anything outside of his native Brazil.

The Paulista School of Brazilian architecture, which he was part of, was generally characterized by exposed reinforced concrete, large open spaces, and rational structures. Mendes da Rocha's propensity to work with large expanses of raw concrete led to many associations with Brazilian brutalism, which the late architect did not care for.

Among Mendes da Rocha's greatest works are the Museum of Contemporary Art at the University of Sao Paulo and the Athletic Club of Sao Paulo.

Mendes da Rocha's work was duly noted and lauded throughout the world. Notably, he won the Mies van Der Rohe Award for Latin America for his renovation of the State Museum of Sao Paulo in 2001 and the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2006.

The pop singer-songwriter purchased the humble abode in 2019 at a price of $2.4 million. However, much has occurred in the recent years of Halsey’s life including news of a baby with producer Alev Aydin. Mirroring the new addition to her family, she has also expanded her real estate assets. Her most recent purchase earned her a $10.2 million property in Calabasas, CA. The home, previously owned by former One Direction star Liam Payne, spans 9,700 square feet and is equipped with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, pool, gardens, and a recording studio. With the new Calabasas residence in Halsey’s possession, her previous Sherman Oaks property is now for sale.

The 1959 Sherman Oaks home, a design envisioned by architect Richard Dorman, includes four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms spanning 2,425 square feet. The serene and secluded home is set on a half acre of land surrounded by lush green landscaping. Stepping inside the property, it opens to a spacious living room with a cozy fireplace leading to the yard and pool. Further into the home presents a sleek kitchen, dining area, family room, office, detached recording studio, and spacious patio. The master suite included a bathroom with dual vanities and sliding glass doors leading outside. Guest bedrooms also offer access to the outdoor space and each room features floor to ceiling windows with a gorgeous view of the surrounding greenery.

As the Sherman Oaks property is placed on the market, the house has been stripped of Halsey’s personal touch and is ready for a new owner.
