Enter model unit 4403 at the Residences by Armani Casa and you will see interior finishes that are simple yet elegant, clean yet refined, and views from each room which are nothing short of extraordinary. It came as no surprise at all when Luciana Fragali, Principal at Design Solutions Miami, was contacted by Paulo Bacchi of Artefacto. After a decade-long friendship and over 100 design collaborations, it was apparent that this partnership was built for success.

Luciana was tasked to create a warm, elegant and welcoming environment for potential buyers who might enter the unit, while Artefacto would provide the luxurious furnishings seen throughout the spaces. "When we first received this project, it was as basic as they come - white, are walls and there was scarcely any overhead lighting. But we knew it had tons of potential," says Fragali. The Design Solutions team's work began at the foyer where they skillfully treated each wall with textured wallpaper, representing the sand of the beaches directly in front of the unit. This element comes through most when paired with the fun and colorful accessories and artwork, which also serve to bring that contemporary touch that every unit needs. The Artefacto "Pipo" armchair by Piegatto brings an organic feel courtesy of its curved wooden design.

Step inside, where you are greeted by wave blue wooden panels meant to mimic the fluidity of the ocean views throughout the unit. This panel was created by Casa Metier. Instinctively, your eye is drawn to a spacious open concept living room where the design team of DS Miami had one mission: integrate ocean views with natural elements. The first step was to create a shell or foundation with a mix of earthy materials including stone, wood, leather, linen and natural raffia.

The corner kitchen can give the illusion of a tight space. With that in mind, Luciana and her team created a bar unit to serve as an extension of the kitchen, consequently opening the room. The dark grey stone by Modern Porcelain Works brings a modern vibe to the unit while the lighter wooden shelves add warmth. LED strip-lighting hidden behind the shelves, along with Artefacto's Annecy ottomans in nubuck leather, add the perfect touch of charm to this bar unit.

Over the dining room, a Moooi Pendant takes center stage over Artefacto's JUD II dining table and Chiara chairs. The caramel color of the Chiara dining chairs serves as a natural pop of color, perfectly accentuated by the lively artwork by artists Eduardo Rezende. The metallic finish of the natural raffia-textured wallpaper behind the artwork ties the room together, giving it the contemporary feel the design team was aiming for.

The mirror wall along the living room was strategically designed to add continuity to the unit, allowing the Atlantic Ocean coastline to pour into the room. This also works in harmony with Artefacto's elegant furnishings characterized by clean lines and intimate ooziness. A plush sofa with surfaces that reflect the condo's ever-changing light envelops the area and yields a fluid ambience. The media wall is covered in a natural raffia wallpaper with an iridescent finish, reminiscent of mother of pearl. Silk accent pillows continue the playful shimmer.

This project was a difficult one due to its time restrictions. The Design Solutions team had only 40 days to create an execute the project. Luciana adds that there was not even time to apply for permits. "We usually like to drop the ceiling to add more recessed lighting," she says. "With only 40 days, we had to think outside the box." For additional lighting to the large living room, the design team turned to Fadecci Architectural Lighting, whose team able to source a unique floating track for the 10-foot ceiling, eliminating the need for a dropped ceiling.

The master bedroom offers breathtaking Atlantic Ocean views through four-to-ceiling windows. This room was designed exclusive with Artefacto furnishing, the crown jewel being the Piet king-sized bed and headboard. The well curated, clutter-free decor sets an ambience that is relaxing, warm and luxurious. Get ready to be swept off your feet by the panoramic views afforded to you by expansive 10-foot-deep private balconies with glass ailing and exquisite Artefacto outdoor furnishings.

Recently Quadro Miami Design District hosted a business summit to help reinvigorate business relationships in Miami, FL. The Miami real estate market has shown incredible recovery from the pandemic thanks to incentives and the immediate response from the government to accelerate the implementation of vaccines as a way of reopening business. There has also been a major influx of people and businesses moving to Miami due to these incentives as well as the attractive model of taxes and the “fun in the sun” lifestyle of the city.

Along with B2B Media and Immobiliere Magazine, Quadro used a blended format to host the conference, with the panels being held in-person at the Quadro Design District and streamed on Facebook Live for online viewers. The summit was comprised of three different panels: "America Grows - Real Estate Investments in the United States", "Restructuring the Post-Covid Financial Markets", and "What's Next for the Cities – Building a Better Future for the New Generations".

"Nobody expected the market to be so resilient," remarked Javier Lluch of Element Development during one of the panels. "The state with the pandemic was a bit critical and it was expected to go down, however, the growth we've seen in the last 12 months has been significant."

"In Miami, we have always been favored by immigration and influence from Latin America, however in the last year, the need for housing multiplied instead of stopping. The reduction in the state tax of 10% or 15% is one of the factors that occurred to make Miami more successful," Edgardo de Fortuna of Fortune International Group said during the second panel.

The Summit was a major success and allowed Miami business people and beyond a chance to network with some of the best of the best in real estate development. Opening remarks were given by Guillermo Almazo, CEO & Publisher of Immobiliere, and other notable panelists included: Edgardo de Fortuna of Fortune International Group, Pedro Azcué of JLL Mexico, Ignacio Montes of Alta Developers, Jeronimo Hirschfeld of ONE Real Estate Investment, Nitza Soledad Pérez of Miami & Latin America CGTN America, Jean-Paul Farah of Ritch Mueller, Federico Cerdas of Skyhaus & COBRA Development Fund, Rhiannon Jacobsen of USGBC and Robert Barcelo of Port Everglades.

Virgil Abloh has cemented himself as one of the great minds in today's design and fashion industries by turning his craft into art without limits or borders. Now, the Artistic Director behind the iconic Louis Vuitton fashion house is venturing into the world of art and furniture with a new art installation in partnership with Vitra. The TWENTYTHIRTYFIVE exhibition will be on display at the Zaha Hadid-designed Fire Station on the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein, a mere four miles away from Basel, from June 12th through July 31st. In collaboration with Vitra and Art Basel, the highly-anticipated exhibition will feature an art installation and three limited-edition home design products.

The exhibition will showcase an art installation divided into two segments -- "Past/Present" and "Future." The latter focuses on the concept of how homes will function in the year 2035 and will bring to life Abloh's vision of the future. Mixing living and working spaces together, Abloh tackles the concept of furniture usage and embarks on the journey of exploring what the world of design will be like.

Imagine a Miami condo with its wraparound terraces and white facade tucked into the middle of New York City. Now picture if the Jenga Tower was plucked from Manhattan and dropped into the heart of Texas. Or what about seeing Dubai’s famed twisted towers… in Vancouver? These architectural feats have all happened, and we’re calling them, “site-unspecific” buildings. Like a fish out of water, these luxury residences transport onlookers into a different city, if only for a moment.

200 East 59th Street

Courtesy 200 East 59th Street

This stunning tower embodies the quintessential Miami condo tower with its 35 floors of wraparound terraces and white exterior columns that are uplit at night; but the only catch is, the building is located in the middle of Manhattan, a world away from the beaches of South Florida. All 67 homes in 200 East 59th Street are corner units, and take advantage of the unique continuous terraces. These outdoor rooms are seamless extensions of the main living spaces, separated by floor-to-ceiling walls of glass with a slender framework and no horizontal interruptions to virtually eliminate the visual distinction between indoor and outdoor space. The residences’ column-free layouts are an engineering feat that creates flexible and unburdened interiors.

One United Nations Park

Courtesy One United Nations Park

This architectural feat rises 460 feet above First Avenue in Murray Hill. One United Nations is the child of Richard Meier and Partners and sits among a block of old world brick buildings from a bygone era. It looks like it was plucked out of a futuristic development and set to rest on Manhattan’s east side. Its layered black glass makes for a bold exterior while luminous interiors provide comfortability. The impressive structure is ahead of its time and certainly ahead of its current setting.

The Independent Austin

Courtesy The Independent Austin

New York’s famed ‘Jenga Tower’ also known as 56 Leonard has not only influenced the city’s skyline, now it seems Austin has taken inspiration and built their own Jenga Tower. The Independent Austin resembles that of the similar building in New York. Developed by Apsen Heights and the CIM Group and designed by Rhode: Partners, the tower has a distinctive stacked design resembling a Jenga tower.

Vancouver House

Courtesy Vancouver House

At first glance, you might mistake this development in Vancouver for one of Dubai’s famous twisted feats of architecture. At second glance, it’s the Vancouver House, a rarefied building featuring a combination of world-class architecture, high quality of execution and unforgettable views. The Vancouver House sets the stage for future developments in the city, making it a site-unspecific wonder.
