Developed by CL Investment Group in partnership with Hill West Architects and Tamarkin Co., 555 West End Avenue was once the home of the Beaux Arts Catholic School. Today, it plays host to 13 one-of-a-kind residences on the Upper West Side. One of the residences dubbed the Terrace Penthouse is worth a jaw-dropping $22.5M.

Providing the feeling of an expansive private home, the Terrace Penthouse is perfect for buyers looking to upgrade to more space in New York City. The spectacular home features over 2,200 square feet of interior space and 2,800 square feet of private outdoor space, with ample space for outdoor dining, entertaining and relaxation, as well as picturesque views of the Hudson River and city skyline. The full-floor roof terrace is accessed via a striking outdoor staircase leading from the wraparound terrace—a beautiful connection between the two impressive spaces.

Ensuring privacy, the penthouse is accessed through direct elevator entry. The incredibly spacious home, one of only 13 in the intimate, boutique development, overlooks a quiet, tree- and brownstone-lined street on the coveted Upper West Side.

Ideal for both privacy and entertaining, the penthouse’s interior living areas are spread across two full floors connected by an elegant floating staircase. The kitchen, living and great rooms are situated on the second level, while the bedroom suites, den and laundry occupy the private lower level.

The home’s expansive great room, complete with a double-sided, marble-wrapped gas fireplace, opens onto a wraparound terrace with elegant steel-framed French doors that offer a spectacular view of the building’s signature landmarked turrets.

Elegant finishes designed by Tamarkin Co. illustrate the attention to detail present throughout the development. The penthouse’s voluminous chef’s kitchen features a spacious butler’s pantry and is adorned with solid white oak cabinetry handcrafted by Christopher Peacock and complete with Nanz hardware, honed Pietra Cardosa stone floors, polished Arabescato marble slab countertops and backsplashes, and top-of-the-line Wolf, Sub-Zero and Miele appliances.

The elegant master bath features original arched windows, hand-selected Calacatta Gold marble slabs, custom white oak vanities by Christopher Peacock and Lefroy Brooks fixtures.

Located in the heart of the coveted Upper West Side, 555 West End Avenue offers residents access to world-class dining and cultural attractions as well as the peaceful respite of a quiet, tree-lined street.

The boutique condominium is moments from two of the City’s most desirable green spaces, Riverside Park and Central Park, and places residents in close proximity to the Henry Hudson Parkway, creating an easy getaway to upstate New York and Connecticut. An established and exclusive neighborhood, the surrounding area is home to some of the city’s most prestigious secondary schools, in addition to Columbia University and Fordham University, and directly across town from the Upper East Side’s most acclaimed schools.

With its combination of original architectural details and spacious floorplans that feel like private homes, 555 West End Avenue has become one of New York City’s most sought-after residential addresses. There are only five homes remaining and the development is available for immediate occupancy.

The richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos, needs the tallest throne and he found it at 212 Fifth Avenue, where he purchased the penthouse, and the two other apartments below it. Bezos now owns nearly $100 million of real estate in the one building. There's speculation that he's going to combine them to make one home, but it hasn't been confirmed. Regardless, the penthouse designed by Pembroke & Ives is a spectacular piece of architecture and we have the pictures to prove it.

Photo Credit: Courtesy Pembroke & Ives

212 Fifth Avenue is a building that bridges the gap of modernity. It is a relevant link between centuries, a thread of continuity between the industrial and technological revolutions. The building was envisioned using thoroughly modern concepts; it is an early example of an open plan skyscraper with oversized windows, built at a time and place in history when the logical formal outcome of that concept was too radical a proposition for its moment.

Photo Credit: Courtesy Pembroke & Ives

The penthouse spans 10,000 square feet with an addition of 5,000 square feet of outdoor space. The bronze staircase, terrace with a copper parapet and high-end finishes are details Pembroke & Ives are renowned for.

Photo Credit: Courtesy Pembroke & Ives

The triplex penthouse has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, smart home technology, four exposures, a chef’s kitchen, and enough closet space the richest man in the world could want. The gallery walls also make the crown jewel an art lover's paradise. The real highlights of the home include the observatory on the top floor, the huge skylight, a marble-and-glass fireplace in the library, and the two pools. Yes, we said two.

Photo Credit: Courtesy Pembroke & Ives

Building amenities include a fitness center, yoga studio, treatment room, playroom, game room, lounge, dining/meeting room with catering kitchen, and screening room.

Photo Credit: Courtesy Pembroke & Ives

The annual Sundance Film Festival returned to Park City, Utah this year and while attendees were getting a front-row seat to the best films, we had an exclusive look inside two apres-style Utah homes. The estates were built, owned and designed by celebrity and film makeup artist Bron Roylance. Best known for his work on Terms of Endearment, Back to the Future, and numerous James Bond films, Roylance is also best buds with Pierce Brosnan, who he recruited to narrate a marketing video for the properties.

First up is The Monastery, a five-bedroom rustic French Monastery-style chalet. This property is an extraordinary place for cold-weather adventure and has direct ski-in and ski-out convenience. However, residents and guests will be able to enjoy the chalet all year round.

The children's playroom has evolved from a sorry space with a bright carpet and a few blocks to a totally over-the-top space designed by some of the most accomplished names in the children's design world.
With Amazon’s forthcoming HQ2 in Long Island City (LIC), many are wondering where their 50,000 employees will live. The previous artists’ haven burst onto the high-end luxury residential scene in the past few years. This Queens neighborhood offers an abundance of art and culture, an ease of transportation and killer views. LIC poses some pretty posh options to live and play. We have outlined six luxury residential buildings with excellent amenities that showcase what LIC has to offer.

GALERIE

For art lovers and collectors, ODA Architecture’s GALERIE is described as “a curated collection of homes in the heart of the art district.” Located directly across the street from MoMA PS1, ODA and Paris Forino Interiors blend art and architecture seamlessly throughout the building. ODA’s founder, Eran Chen, says “GALERIE utilizes three different window typologies to provide a collection of multi-dimensional living experiences. It offers diversity while fostering community, all in a forward-facing, ecologically responsible building.” The building’s amenities include a permanent art gallery space, called the ArtBox, a porte-cochere, a sculpture garden, lounge, party room with kitchenette, a library and workspace, a pool with outdoor access, children’s playroom, fitness center and landscaped roof deck.

ARC

ARC boasts that they are the anti-cookie cutter building. Specifically curated for urbanites’ appreciation for design and authenticity, ARC is located in the Dutch Kills neighborhood which is filled with museums and art galleries, restaurants and bars, boutiques, and charming residential streets. ARC’s onsite “Lifestyle Director” can help schedule gardening in their greenhouse in the private, interior courtyard garden, games in the indoor basketball court, pool parties in the outdoor, heated saltwater rooftop pool or cooking classes with a celebrity chef. All of this and ARC’s central location is also immediately adjacent to multiple subway lines, providing access to midtown Manhattan in less than 10 minutes.

Aurora

One of Aurora’s show-stopping amenities includes a full rooftop level floor with soaring eighteen-foot full-height glass curtain walls. The Aurora Sky Lounge features plush seating, high-definition television, Wi-Fi access, entertaining kitchenette, and a live edge dining table with seating for 10. The lounge extends out to Aurora’s Sky Deck, a beautifully landscaped, rooftop sun terrace complete with an outdoor grilling station, misting shower, chaise lounges, and intimate seating. There is also a state-of-the-art fitness center offering free weights, high-tech cardio and strength training equipment from Life Fitness. Aurora’s units boast fluid living, kitchen and dining spaces that are emphasized by white lacquer cabinetry and pure white quartz countertops, floor-to-ceiling windows that frame impressive views of the city skyline, white oak flooring and modern finishes unify both use and design.

ALTA LIC

Designed by luxury resort architect Stephen B. Jacobs Group Architects and Planners, ALTA LIC is a luxury high rise featuring flexible rents with co-living options, though never skimping on high level amenities such as a golf simulator, pool, roof deck, and lounge area. ALTA LIC offers some of the largest luxury rental residences available in LIC with spacious open floor plans and designer touches with superior views of LIC and Manhattan.

Jackson Park

Jackson Park offers an outrageously extravagant 120,000 square feet of amenities including a 45,000-square-foot clubhouse dubbed The Club at Jackson Park, which overlooks a private park and features a lounge area with a fireplace and water feature, a demo kitchen accompanied by a private dining and conference room, a game area with golf simulator, poker table, billiards, foosball and flat screen television, a fully equipped tech bar and an outdoor patio and lounge outfitted with a wet bar, hanging garden and shuffleboard. The second level of The Club features an expansive fitness studio curated by gym guru Jay Wright, designer of the MoMA Tower, 15 Central Park West and 50 United Nations Plaza fitness centers (and many more). The Club continues on the third floor with a spa, sauna and steam rooms, a meditation lounge and changing rooms. A 75-foot indoor lap pool, a professional grade full size basketball/volleyball and squash courts take up the entirety of the fourth floor. Topping off the Club is a rooftop with an outdoor social pool and hot tub surrounded by cabanas, chaise lounges and communal tables, all set against the New York City skyline.

1QPS Tower

Photo credit:MOSO Studio and Douglas Elliman Development Marketing

The sleek and modern residences at 1 QPS have stunning views from the apartments. Smartly detailed with premium finishes, the residences offer comfort and quality within a modern aesthetic and are flooded with light by day and skyline light shows at night. In addition to the views from the private residences, the zen-like pool has 360 views, a landscaped deck, a grilling station and a state-of-the-art sound system.

The end of vacation is always so hard. You want to savor the last few pampered, stress-free moments but you feel the pressures of the daily grind creeping back. What if going home didn’t mean the end of the hotel stay? What if the building you lived in had all the amenities of a hotel and so the transition between vacation and home life was hard to discern? Well, that is a viable option in many high-end residential buildings in New York City. Luxury developers are building spas, pools, treatment rooms and designing other services into their buildings to make your home a five star luxury resort. Don’t put away your “Life is Good” t-shirt after vacation, move to one of these buildings and keep living the dream.

Jardim, the Portuguese word for garden, is a fitting name for the first New York building by Isay Weinfeld, the world-renowned Brazilian architect and interior designer. With a canopy of native evergreens and flowering trees, an ultra-private urban park envelops the two 11-story towers that comprise this West Chelsea development. Weinfeld has designed spas and pools for some of the most elegant contemporary resorts in the world, including the Fasano Las Piedras in Punta del Este, Uruguay. He brings that same attention to sensory experience to the amenities at Jardim, where a serene pool surrounded by cool terrazzo floors and warm reclaimed old-growth pine walls opens up to the courtyard gardens with staggered skylights, suffusing the space with sunlight. Additional amenities include a fitness center, massage rooms and a block-long tunnel that acts as a private driveway.

Superstar hospitality designer, Alexandra Champalimaud (Beverly Hills Hotel, Raffles Singapore, The Palace Hotel, Four Seasons Jakarta) is at the helm for the interiors of The Kent, a 30-story art deco development located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. In addition to a wide variety of cool amenities, including a pool and sauna, teen room, and sound lounge, The Kent offers a Garden Salon, akin to a hotel’s executive club level lounge, and the Drawing Room, where residents can entertain guests. These spaces were crafted for residents to imbibe, relax and play all while overlooking a beautifully landscaped zen-like courtyard garden by West 8 landscape architects.
