Carlo Habet is a third-generation entrepreneur whose family has had a rich history in Belize’s development. Seeing the opportunity for synergy with Brothers Habet’s own real estate developments, he decided to further his real estate education at Champions School of Real Estate in Plano, Texas. He then founded 4Realty in 2009 and has been able to develop a niche market selling commercial and luxury investments with a full-service company that provides boutique quality care to its clients. Currently the President of the Belize National Association of Real Estate, he has been lobbying diligently for the establishment of regulatory legislation in the Belizean real estate industry. Habet is the consummate businessman broker with an unparalleled network, unmatched communication, negotiation acumen, deep national knowledge across sectors, and a long and respected reputation for getting things done.

Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Habet.

Seth Semilof: Tell us a little about you growing up in Belize with the family business.

Carlo Habet: I honestly got into real estate sort of rowing the boat. It was not what I had really envisioned. I do not seem like the agent type. I am not like typical agents probably because of my background in more marketing, IP, and typical business processes. I know people in real estate tend to be seen kind of like salesmen. I went into it looking at it as a want to cultivate long-term relationships. Something that I have found a lot of success in has been referrals from happy customers, so a large sum of my business is actually referral-based.

SS: Tell us how you were able to survive tough times because that, to me, is what really makes a champion top agent. Anyone can be successful in the good times, but it is the bad times too.

CH: How I survived, I think, was specifically because I played my niche. I was lucky because I have two things going at the same time, which was a steady trickle of smaller residential lots and development companies. That kept me going, but as well, allowed me to spend a lot more time on bigger deals. I have been trying to convince people that there are some deals that you are chasing behind and following up for sometimes a year, but in the end, it is worth it because it closes. I was in a position with my network that I had a couple of these deals for a year. With proper financial planning, I was able to make that happen and with time, it only grew. Every year, I was doing better and better. At a certain point, I realized I have momentum that I do not think is going to go anywhere. I got over my fear of bringing in too many agents and losing focus.

SS: Tell us a little about your company 4realty. How many agents? Do you have offices? Tell us about your empire you built in Belize.

CH: It is not necessarily an empire, but I think we have got a lot done with a pretty tight team. We have currently five agents and the office is for members, mainly administration, and one marketing focal point. From there, what has been very key has been the network that I started with. Choosing the right agent has helped me to expand the network in meaningful ways to places that I did not touch before. We are seeing other agents in other parts of the country also step up, but it is a federal market and such a strong market. There are so many people from the U.S. and from Canada. The demand greatly outstrips supply, so the prices are very strong and very stable.

SS: Where do you see your business in the next five years?

CH: Because we recently expanded again, I think we want to make sure we get the most out of this new set of agents. What we are going to look at next within the next six to 12 months is strengthening our administrative staff. Organizationally, we can improve. You have to have relationships, but what I find the most interesting about real estate is it is really like every other business in that you have a back end and you have people that are also working really hard doing things that no one really knows about. Those things are as key to the success of the company as anything else, so what we are looking at right now is to consolidate our admin, marketing, and specifically to expand marketing a little bit.

SS: If you had to give some advice to someone [getting into real estate], what advice would you give?

CH: The landscape has changed a bit, so there are more established brokerages. There is this environment where if someone wants to be an agent, they can actually try to get a job with an agency first and then learn. I would recommend that. Basically, I would advise that people get the experience under people who know. Go to a brokerage and try and get a job, first and foremost.

Sean Combs, notably recognized by his multiple stage names Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Puffy, or Diddy, is an American rapper, record executive, record producer, and entrepreneur. The hip hop musician was romantically involved with model and actress Kim Porter for 13 years and the celebrity couple had four children together. In 2009, Combs purchased a mansion in Los Angeles’s Toluca Lake for $5.3 million which would become a longtime residence for Porter.

However, Porter unfortunately passed away in her home at the age of 46 due to pneumonia. Now, three years after her passing, the dwelling is being listed by Combs for $7 million. Kravitz quietly purchased a charming retreat in the Pound Ridge enclave of New York’s Westchester County for $1.45 million. The property had previously been owned by actress Maggie Q who purchased the residence for $1,230,850.

Built in the 1800s, Kravitz’s newfound getaway was formerly a cider mill, known as Aaron Wood’s Mill. In 1993, Shaquille Rashaun O'Neal, most notably recognized as 15-time NBA All-Star “Shaq,” purchased a wonderous waterfront mansion in Windermere, Florida. The extravagant estate was acquired for $3.95 million nearly three decades ago and in the years following, the space became his long-term residence.

In 2018, the property was first listed on the market at a whopping $28 million. As the steep asking price failed to attract prospective buyers, the home was most recently reduced to an offer of $16.5 million. The residence has spent three years on the market at varying price points presented by multitude of real estate agents. However, on Friday, a deed for the sale finally closed at $11 million, about 60% less than the initial asking price. The transaction is yet to be available on public property records and the buyer is currently unknown.

The lavish lakefront property spans nearly four acres of the exclusive Isleworth Golf and Country Club with the primary residence occupying 31,000 square feet of living space. The interior floor plan opens to a two-story great room with walls of glass. Further into the Mediterranean style home presents a lush dining area, an office, and an aquarium room with a saltwater triangular fish tank. In December of 2020, Emmy winning comedian and television host Trevor Noah purchased an expansive estate in Los Angeles’s Bel Air neighborhood for $27.5 million. The South African entertainer acquired the impressive abode from architect Mark Rios who initially designed the property for himself in 2014. The home had previously been listed on the market in 2018 asking as much as $36 million. In 2020, the asking price was reduced to $32.5 million then lowered once more to $29.5 million.

Now, “The Daily Show” host is bidding farewell to his newly purchased residence for $29.75 million only 10 months after purchased. Although it is currently unknown as to why Noah is so quickly selling the home, he has been linked to several other properties across the country. In 2019, he purchased a nearby mansion at $20.5 million before flipping it for $21.7 million last year. Noah has also owned a $10 million penthouse in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen since 2017 and is currently renting a second residence in Tribeca for a reported $52,000 a month.

Noah’s former Bel Air abode spans a whopping 11,375 square feet with six bedrooms, eight full baths, and three half-baths. The expansive space evokes a Japanese inspired aesthetic and has been described as a “tranquil haven.” The interior floor plan features the living area with floor-to-ceiling glass doors and chef’s kitchen with bar seating, formal dining room, and den. The library, in particular, was fashioned after a room in Kyoto with the addition of heavy and dark timbers. Across the home, primary decorative elements consist of dark wood accents, light-filled spaces, and sweeping city views.

Upstairs, the master suite presents dual baths and spacious walk-in closets. The second floor also offers four additional ensuite bedrooms. Outside, the exterior space features a rooftop terrace, swimming pool, kitchen, and fire pit. Other luxe amenities of the Bel Air mansion include a gym, spa, office, screening room, motor court, and separate guest apartment.

Hugh Grant, the quintessential English actor who rose to stardom in romantic comedies, is officially bidding farewell to his, “Love Actually” days. In 2002, the actor lived in a plush South Kensington penthouse suite at Petersham House. This was his residence while he filmed the iconic festive rom-com “Love Actually” as the Prime Minister and love interest to Martine McCutcheon’s Natalie character. However, a year later, Grant already decided to part ways with the posh property as it was reportedly too ostentatious for the notoriously publicity-shy actor. The residence then sold for a $4.8 million, which was slightly more than what he purchased it for, and in 2019 with its new owner, was listed once again. The price presented was a whopping $13.8 million but as the steep asking price failed to attract potential buyers, the home was taken off the market. Now, the London penthouse is for sale once more after a $2.8 million deduction for a total asking price of $11 million.

Located on the seventh floor of Petersham House on Harrington Road in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Grant’s former residence spans over 3,000 square feet with three bedrooms. The open floor plan presents a grand foyer leading into an expansive living room and dining area. The home’s interior evokes opulent and airy feel with its dazzling chandeliers and wrap-around glass windows for panoramic views of London. The expansive primary suite features an ensuite bath and spacious dressing room. Additionally, the space boasts two large guest bedrooms. Luxe amenities include a rooftop hot tub, private gym, and direct elevator access leading to the reception room. Stepping outside, the exterior space features two main terraces extending over 1,500 square feet. The west-facing terrace showcases Alpine-inspired wooden decking and carefully selected, artfully curated plants.

In 2014, media personality Kim Kardashian and renowned rapper Kanye West tied the knot becoming an iconic pop culture couple. Soon after, the two spent a whopping $23 million for a mansion in Hidden Hills, California. Throughout the years, the expansive space served as home to the celebrity duo as they raised their four young children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. However, earlier this year, the reality star filed for divorce after nearly seven years of marriage. The two currently share joint legal and physical custody of their children. Following news of their split, it is reported that Kardashian would be staying in their Hidden Hills residence nearby her famous family clan in Calabasas.

Los Angeles records confirm that Kardashian is now the role owner of the once shared Hidden Hills home. She purchased West’s share of the estate for $23 million total. When the two first acquired the property, they proceeded to gut and rebuild the entire space from the ground up over the course of six years. West spearheaded the design project to showcase a sense of stark minimalism and bright simplicity. Of the $23 million Kardashian paid, $20 million accounts for the property itself while the remaining $3 million is the price of the interior contents, including art and furniture.

Since 2018, West has made routine trips between his Los Angeles residence and his Wyoming ranch while spending the majority of 2020 on the ranch. This reportedly was one of the reasons contributing to the estranged pair going their separate ways. West continued to stay in his ranch in Cody, Wyoming, until he unexpectedly listed on the market earlier this month.

Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Sherrill.

Seth Semilof: After school, what did you end up doing?

Anna Sherrill: I had some interesting sales jobs. I worked for a company that a friend of my mom owns which booked athletic teams in hotels all over the nation. I did that during college and a little bit after college. I also worked for a headhunting company which was really popular at that time, but as soon as I moved to Miami in 1999, I got my license in 2000 very shortly after. The company that had sold us our place, Suncoast Properties, was a little office in Brickell Key. The owner offered me a job and asked if I wanted to get into real estate. I got my license and started right away.

SS: In 2000, we were in a recession, so you got in at the worst time in the market, correct?  

AS: It was a tough time. I was recruited shortly after by a development company called ISG, International Sales Group. They did marketing and sales for a lot of developers. They still do incredibly well. I went and worked with them right away, which was great. I got into self-developments and that is a great way to start your career. We traveled all across South America and Central America. We would go with an immigration attorney as well. We would meet with different brokers in those cities. They would put people in a room, and we would be able to present our developments. It is a great way to start because you can actually get paid. You are building a business when you are first starting and it is truly your own business. Starting with a developer, they pay for marketing and a lot of the things you maybe cannot afford as a new agent. That really helped me build my business, learn the market, and meet a lot of agents.

SS: Everyone wants to do the luxury properties and you make it seem easy. Tell us some of the learning experiences that led you up to that point.

AS: It is never easy. It is a learning curve of learning to listen to people to try to be an expert in the market. Knowledge is everything in this market and in every market. It is really about educating yourself but also listening to your client and doing what they want you to do. 90% of my business is referral business; it is repeat clients, friends, family, or brokers that refer me business. I know that every client is special and there to teach me as well because a lot of these people are incredibly smart, really savvy, know the market well, know what they want, and know the business well. You can learn a lot from your clients as well.

SS: Can you tell us about being involved in One Thousand Museum and some of the success stories you have had?

AS: People want to understand why we are the most expensive. Obviously, it is the best building in my opinion. It is an iconic building and what they have done here is incredible. Especially during COVID, the price tag here is the highest price tag, not only price per foot but total price. People are not used to paying this price tag in this area, so it really is about educating the buyers, getting the right people through the door, and building that trust. In the beginning, we had a couple of months where nothing was really happening, and it was scary. We did virtual open houses and instead of ten people showing up, we had two hundred and something people watching. We got great exposure, even though at the beginning, it was a little tough. It is all about pivoting, using your resources, knowing the agents selling in your area, following up with them, and knowing your product really well.

SS: What advice would you give to somebody that is in your shoes who might have moved to Miami or L.A., a city without real relationships, which is the majority of realtors?

AS: To start out, if you can, join a team or have a mentor. It is super important because you want to learn from the best of the best. If you want to enter a market and work for people, even if you take on a rental business for a big team, you will learn from that team. I also think if you can, get into development. Even as a junior associate, you learn so much in sales. That can also be people’s career. I am blessed to be in both, but some people are just in development sales, and they do incredibly well in that. If you are inspired by that or the other, whichever one you get into is great.

Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Miller.

Seth Semilof: What made you make the move to go into real estate?

Sandra Miller: I transitioned from an outside sales representative to inside manager, then I launched in seven different markets for them. When I left, I had 178 indirect distributors under my realm with managers and etc., so a ton of reports all commission only. I knew about five years before I left that when I left that job, I would go into real estate. It was just never a question in my mind. The reason I would go into real estate is because there is no other industry where someone who is good at sales has unlimited income potential like real estate.

SS: How was it pivoting? How was it building your business? Did it take time, or did it start immediately?

SM: It was really an interesting time. It was 2004 when I got my license. What I did was I went around and interviewed different companies, owners, and operators that were running retail storefronts in the U.S. There were not that many in 2004, but I wanted to do retail because that was my specialty. I had thousands of them underneath me in my previous life. I did not know anyone in L.A. because at that point, I was really upper management and traveling between seven different markets. It was really starting from ground zero. What I learned when I went around the country, interviewed people, and set up my business plan, is how to launch. I started marketing about six months before I ever did a deal, needed to do a deal, or wanted to do a deal. I did 20,000 mailers a month for six months before I got my first call.

SS: If you had to give advice to somebody that wants to get into real estate and is scared but has the resources to invest in themselves or to somebody who does not have the resources, what advice would you give?

SM: If they do not have the resources, I advise them to work on a team. Honestly, you need resources in order to be successful. You cannot just wing it. My expertise was launching markets for my old company, so I did the research. I knew exactly what I was getting into. I knew exactly the target market I was going after. I did the mailings, I opened my office, and I had no choice but to be successful. I am not a trust fund baby. I needed to make money. I had a very specific business plan that I executed, and it worked.

SS: How was building, setting up with Engel & Völkers, having a name, having a fancy office, and having to produce?

SM: There was no producing. Santa Monica real estate, west side real estate, really just stopped. They did not have to sell. It is all people with lots of money. There were no short sales in this market. There were no foreclosures in this market. It was just a stalled market, but I survived. I started doing a lot of leasing in those 18 months. Then, the market took off like a rocket. It was eye opening when it happened as a woman business owner that is responsible for other people's livelihoods.

SS: Where do you see your business in the next five to 10 years?

SM: I see continuing to build my team, continuing to make them successful, and doing more of the same. I want to sell until I am 100. I really enjoy the boutique. I do not want to build an empire. I did that and I do not want to do it again. I want to enjoy traveling, which I can do with the Engel & Völkers brand. I can go network with fellow agents and office owners whenever and wherever. I can really enjoy my clients and the homes that I get to sell. It has been a journey.

Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, more notably recognized as Grammy winning rapper Cardi B, has received an extravagant 29^th birthday gift from her husband Kiari Kendrell Cephus, known professionally as Offset. The celebrity duo got married in 2017 and have two children together: 3-year-old Kulture Kiari Cephus and a baby boy born in September and whose name has not been announced.

The musician’s opulent birthday gift was inspired by her long-term interest in purchasing investment properties in the Caribbean. In the caption of her Instagram video tour, Cardi B explained that Offset worked with her father, who is originally from the Dominican Republic, to purchase the villa. The Las Terrenas home named "Calle Plaza" is currently available as an Airbnb for $836 a night. Although there is no available record of how much Offset spent on the estate, it was most recently listed at $1.49 million.

With 8,000 square feet, the Dominican vacation home sits atop picturesque hills with seven bedrooms and seven baths. According to Airbnb guest reviews, the property is remarkably noted for its scenic ocean views and stunning architecture. Resting behind guarded gates, the four-story home is composed of natural materials including wood, rusted steel, brut concrete, and coral stone. The kitchen is fully equipped with a double fridge, oven, microwave, hood, five burner gas stove, wine fridge, and island bar. Further into the home presents the dining room with vast views through floor-to-ceiling windows. The living room highlights sliding glass doors leading to the outdoor space. The home also boasts an independent one-bedroom studio with its own living room, bedroom, and bath.

Outside, the exterior space offers plentiful entertainment and relaxation options. The rooftop infinity pool has fountains and built-in lounge chairs floating in the water. A second pool is directly accessible from one of the bedrooms. Additionally, the roof offers a gym, dining space, and a covered barbecue area with sink and grill. The estate also highlights a lush private garden and plentiful palm trees surrounding the house. Other luxe amenities include office space, private beach access, tennis club access, and helipad access.

Brandi Hunter-Lewis and Antonio Khoury of Compass represented the buyer in this transaction. The listing broker is unknown, but the listing appeared on the Atlantique Sud brokerage website.

Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, more notably recognized as Grammy nominated rapper Big Sean, has recently bid farewell to his Los Angeles residence. The property located in the exclusive Mulholland Estates gated community was officially sold two months ago at the whopping price of $11 million. Now, the American musician is making news with yet another real estate transaction but this time, as a buyer. Anderson has recently purchased a newfound residence in the guard-gated enclave of Encino, California for $8.1 million. The property was originally listed in May for $10 million but was ultimately sold to Anderson at a nearly $2 million discount. Reportedly, this space is slightly smaller than his previous abode but is a Chateau style mansion with elegant touches of French Normandy-style.

Built in 2005, Anderson’s lavish Encino mansion was completely renovated four years ago. Sitting on almost half an acre of lush land, the residence spans more than 10,000 square feet with six bedrooms and nine baths. Stepping inside the three-floor home, the interior showcases stone-clad features and luxurious touches evoking the elegant feel of a European chateau. The space opens to a soaring foyer with a winding staircase. The formal living room highlights dome skylights and a full library wall while the casual family room features a wood-burning fireplace and retractable glass doors leading to a covered, wood-lined patio with fireplace. The sleek gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with appliances and two sizable islands. Further into the home rests a formal dining room and a breakfast nook with French doors opening to an outdoor loggia with a built-in barbecue.

Upstairs, the primary suite boasts a cozy fireplace, private balcony, and walk in closet. The spa like bath presents dual vanities, a glass encased shower, and a freestanding soaking tub. The upper floor also offers a separate spa section with a sauna and massage room. The basement features its own relaxing and entertainment options with a mirrored gym, plush movie theater, 1,000-bottle wine cellar, and game room with wet bar. Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Greenwood.

Seth Semilof: What exactly is a partner of the Regency Christie's International Real Estate and member of the Christie's Masters Circle?

Robert Greenwood: Christie's International Real Estate is one of the top luxury real estate brands in the world. We have been affiliated with Christie's for almost two decades now. With an investment angle, that has really helped us with our global exposure and the trust of the brand name. We have a fantastic team here at Christie's in the Turks and Caicos Islands with a breadth of knowledge. It is a great collaboration with Christie's and our team of 10 agents works very efficiently in the high-net-worth, high-value world of real estate.

SS: What made you want to get into real estate on the buy and sell side?

RG: It happened organically. At one point, I did the triad where I had a management company, a construction company, and a real estate company where one would feed the other. I did that for a long time, but I always gravitated towards real estate. I love the different styles of architecture. I really enjoy interacting with the people that we meet here. We get such a wide demographic of buyers from across the world, and you never know who you are actually dealing with everything from A-listers to captains of industry. The Turks is not just reserved for mega villas in the $20 million range. We are very price affordable in certain areas and certain condos, so I get to meet some incredible people.

SS: How was the island when you first launched the brokerage firm? What was your strategy?

RG: It was certainly very different than it is today. We did not have the technology that we have today. We did not have the inventory that we had today, but we also did not have the amount of brokerages. There are 16 brokerages within the Turks, but back then, it was three or four. It has always been very word of mouth in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It was slow-moving. Operating a real estate company was not aggressive at all and did not need to be. I do say quite often I have never really sold any real estate. The island already does that for me. My job is to simply guide you through the process.

SS: Tell us about who your mentor was or who helped mold you into where you are at today.

RG: I cannot mention his name, but he has an extensive background in commercial real estate in Canada. He was actually one of my first sales. The majority of my clients become my friends. You have to have the passion and the love of what you do. I love living in the Turks and Caicos Islands. I love what I do and love the people I meet. People see that and they recognize it is authentic. That is what makes the difference. You can read all the books you would like. You can have all the mentors you like. You can learn all the psychology of sales, but it really comes down to true authenticity. Make sure buyers get what they want. They will tell you everything you need to know.

SS: Who are the buyers? Where are they coming from?

RG: A lot of buyers are from the United States. It is a big demographic for us, and we are so easy to get to. It is a hop, skip, and a jump three and a half hours from New York. 90 minutes from Miami. We have direct flights from Charlotte, from Atlanta, and from Houston. Now, we are getting interest from new demographics in California and Vegas. Predominantly, U.S. buyers, but Europe is another big one and South America. The grand prize here is going to be exceptional, not just for real estate, but for tourism. They go parallel when you come down here. You fall in love on vacation, and we can offer you a condo from $290,000 to $68 million or $86 million. It has the full range.

Philip Weiser has worked within the luxury hotel and hospitality industry for decades in London before transitioning to real estate when he and his young family settled in France. Weiser has held his French real estate license for over 40 years and assisted hundreds of buyers and sellers in the sale and acquisition of luxury homes and villas throughout the French Riviera. Launching Carlton International in 1995, the first of the Carlton International brands, Weiser and the Carlton International team collectively speak 14 languages to cater to an international clientele as a leading estate agent on the Cote d'Azur.

Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Weiser.

Seth Semilof: What made you think of moving to France and getting into real estate? Did you move to France first to do hotels, and then do real estate?

Philip Weiser: Not at all. My pre-Airbnb adventure was very successful. I sold the business and decided that I would move my family into a more international environment in the south of France where we have a good selection of schools with the English language. I was on a trip from Paris to Nice international airport and I sat next to a property developer who had opened the state agency in the town where I was living, and he was about to close the agency. Since I had nothing to do, I said, “I will be happy to see if I can make your agency run.” The Monday following, he forgot it, but he was as good as his word. He took me across the road, introduced me to my new boss, and suddenly I was a real estate. That was in 1982.

SS: Tell us how the business evolved from 1982. Where did you go from there?

PW: We were very successful as brokers as well buying, selling, renovating, and constructing. A lot of money was made at that time and I reinvested all the resources into other projects. The banks were throwing money at this time and in 1992, there was the first Gulf War when Iraq invaded Kuwait. Property prices around the world were heavily affected by that. In Europe, especially because we are closer to North Africa, prices dropped by 50% and interest rates were at 18.6%. I had 50% borrowings and 50% cash, but my properties all lost value of 50%, so I lost everything. It was the end of a glorious 10-year adventure.

SS: How is the real estate changed over the last 20 years? Are people building contemporary homes in the south of France?

PW: The architecture is sort of Mediterranean, with a lot of bay windows and tiled rooms like you have in California. That was the staple that together with traditional homes in the area are the two trends, but in the last five years, the word contemporary has become part of the local architecture dictionary. We never spoke of contemporary architecture. It was modern, but it was never contemporary. Now, we have some magnificent contemporary homes. It is very much the trend today. We must have, at least right now, 10 potential buyers looking for land to build a contemporary home or readymade contemporary homes designed by a local architect they can move straight into. There are very few standardized materials, so the cost of construction in spite of that it is clean, nice, and easy is that it is an expensive item here.

SS: What advice would you give to somebody getting into real estate to be successful?

PW: First is never believe anybody until you have proof of what they are saying is correct whether it is a buyer, seller, colleagues, or other brokers. The second is you need resilience because you have to have face the fact that you cannot win them all. The other self-discipline is being able to get up in the morning, go out, do the job, and stick with it. There is no day off. The last one is that when you are successful, do not spend the money. You may be successful this time. Ultimately, I tell everybody, you cannot sell a house. There are no sales in this job. It is understanding the needs of the buyer.

SS: Do you think your experience, training, and education in the hotel industry is what made you successful? Did you bring that to your real estate company?

PW: Certainly, that aspect played a very important role. A hotel is like a small town. You have lots of people of different nationalities and different characteristics. If you are managing, you have to move the people and the visitors first, not just the staff. All these people have their specific needs, their behaviors, and the way in which they react. If you go to have any peace and quiet managing, I will tell you to have to manage the staff and the guests with a lot of psychology, understanding, and great service.

Alecia Beth Moore, known professionally by her stage name Pink, and husband, Casey Hart, have recently purchased a waterfront home in Malibu, California for $13.7 million. The “just completed,” contemporary space was formerly home to fellow musician Barry Manilow. The beach house was presented to Pink and Hart in April for $13.5 million, but the duo were prepared to offer $200,000 above asking price to secure the picturesque property.

Despite the seemingly optimistic purchase, Pink has surprisingly listed the Malibu beach house on the market a mere three months after acquiring it. It is currently unclear as to why she is bidding farewell to the residence bought in late June, but reports have portrayed the listing as a “flip.” Unfortunately, the new listing price of $15 million will offer Pink less than a 6% profit when broker’s fees are considered.

Built in 1976, the 7,000-square-foot mansion perfectly encapsulates the ideal attributes of a Malibu beach house. The interior highlights oak hardwood floors, a living room with gas fireplace, seating room with lighted tray ceiling, and dining room with a dazzling chandelier. Further into the home, the cream and white gourmet kitchen has been renovated and highlights a cozy breakfast nook with scenic views. Upstairs, the oceanfront primary suite presents a fireplace, dual walk-in closets, and luxurious bathroom with Onyx stone countertops, a standalone tub, and a large walk-in shower. Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Land-de Wilde.

Seth Semilof: You moved to the island. You were at the radio station for about five years and then you said, “I either want to come into the financial industry or the real estate industry.” Tell us about that.

Amy Land-de Wilde: I had a lot of good experience managing a radio station and starting in radio sales. If practice for any kind of sales job, you are dealing with an evaporating commodity. You have to have excellent not only people skills, but you have to be organized and follow up to develop good work habits. I really do credit that beginning as one of the reasons I started in 1986.

SS: When you started, things were hot. How long were they hot for? How long did it take you to get your first deal?

ALW: My story is unusual in a way because of what was happening in our market at the time. I had my first deal within a month and my first year was good. People always tell you and it is true that you have to be able to have the cash to support yourself for that period of time. I started doing a newsletter in 1986, which I still do today, so that consistency did not take that long.

SS: You built an amazing company and worked very hard to open it in 2001. Tell us a little about the reasoning behind selling it and when you made that sale.

ALW: I started the company in 2001 and at the time, it was just Land-de Wilde realty. Although Coldwell Banker had been talking to our company, which I finally did go to that larger company in another couple of years, I stayed at that company until she closed it. That is what started my company. Coldwell Banker continued, I continued, and that was the best decision ever, so I am very happy about that. When I sold in 2018, there were about 35 people, which is not huge for a company in the States, but I was eager to do that.

SS: How is St. Croix right now with the real estate market?

ALW: Real estate, strangely, was one of the businesses allowed to open since we managed other people's properties here from afar. It was very strict, but people were allowed to come see us to our island. People wanted to get out of their home, so we really benefited from a lot of people who came to visit and loved it who would never have.

SS: What advice would you give to somebody watching us, even a person that is in the business for six years and not as successful or someone having some success but not at that level? 

ALW: I would try to get brutal honesty from people they respect around them if they are not having the success that they feel they should be having. I would first definitely look within and say, “Am I doing my best? Am I spending the hours?” The flexibility does offer us benefits, but it is not 40 hours a week. Work-life balance is something that you need to create if you want to be successful in the confines of giving your all to your business.

Grammy winning singer Justin Timberlake has delved into film entertainment in recent years and has now made news in the real estate world. The popstar purchased a nearly 10-acre property in the residential area of Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles in 2002 for $8.3 million. Ten years later, Timberlake married actress Jessica Biel and the duo have two children together. Additionally, the celebrity couple owns further properties in New York City, Montana, and Tennessee although, reportedly, have been spending less time in Los Angeles. This has presumably led them to listing their Hollywood Hills abode on the market. The expansive compound has been offered at a whopping price of $35 million.

Timberlake and Biel’s former residence has a history of acclaimed owners. In the 1940s, Golden Age actor Errol Flynn allegedly used the space to build a compound with hidden passageways, peepholes, and two-way mirrors, according to the book “Errol Flynn Slept Here” by Robert Matzen and Michael Mazzone. Later, American actress Helen Hunt built a house on the roughly 3-acre property that she sold to Timberlake in 2002. Timberlake then purchased an additional 7-acre lot behind the primary residence for further privacy.

Resting on an expansive 10-acre lot, the Spanish style villa serves as the primary residence spanning approximately 13,000 square feet with seven bedrooms. The gated estate offers luxe amenities fit for a star with a screening room, gym, tennis court, separate guesthouse, and outdoor entertaining space with a wooden ceiling patio wrapping around the house. Stepping outside, the exterior presents a hot tub overlooking the San Fernando Valley and a swimming pool running the entire length of the home before spilling into a separate plunge pool. Furthermore, the lush lawn highlights large rolling greens and a charming vegetable garden unique to the Hollywood Hills landscape.

Co-founder, bassist, and ‘The Demon” of legendary rock band Kiss has been a longtime superstar and resident of Beverly Hills, California. In 1986, Simmons and his wife, Shannon Tweed, purchased a Beverly Hills abode for $1.34 million. For more than three decades, the property has been home to him and his family as the primary setting for seven seasons of his A&E reality series, “Gene Simmons Family Jewels.”

The once two-acre estate boasted a 3,500 square foot farmhouse which Simmons renovated into an impressive 13,400 square foot mansion for about $12 million. However, the iconic musician decided to bid farewell to his custom-built home in October of last year when the property was listed at $22 million. The home, however, went unsold and was taken off the market before being relisted in March for $25 million. By mid-May, the price had been reduced to $20 million. Now, the property has finally been sold for a $16 million as Simmons claimed he would like “a quieter lifestyle” while planning to relocate to Lake Tahoe.

Down a long winding pathway, the Beverly Hills home rests beyond gated walls and opens to a dramatic entry with sweeping staircases. The palatial space with a two-story foyer and great room with catwalk includes seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Two of the rooms have previously encapsulated a Kiss inspired theme but have since been stripped of memorabilia after being listed on the market. Stepping outside, the exterior space offers luxe amenities. The front yard presents a tennis court while the backyard boasts a swimming pool and lush lawn surrounded by patios.

At the young age of 24, pop culture icon and makeup mogul Kylie Jenner has already acquired an impressive real estate portfolio. The media personality owns various properties across Los Angeles and Hidden Hills, including a five-acre lot purchased in April of 2020 for $15 million and a $36.5 million palatial showplace in Holmby Hills. Meanwhile, her partner, Travis Scott is primarily based in Brentwood where he spent $29.3 million on two properties this past year. Additionally, the couple owns a $13.5 million home in the mountains above Beverly Hills.

In terms of New York residences, Jenner and Scott reportedly rent a townhome in Greenwich Village. Built in 1839, the building has served as home to plenty of occupants over the past nearly two hundred years including "The March King" John Phillips Sousa. For the past ten years, the property has been listed on and off the market with several brokers at a plethora of differing prices as high as $31.95 million. Now, the six-story building is once again available for purchase through “Million Dollar Listing” star Ryan Serhant at a price of $26.5 million.

The historic Greenwich townhome previously home to Jenner and Scott spans 8,700 square feet with six bedrooms and eight baths. The 22-foot-wide building has been completely redone by developer and owner William Rainero while Clodagh Design worked on the interiors and the outdoor kitchen was designed by Silvano Marchetto. Stepping inside, the space opens to soaring 18-foot ceilings, exposed original stone, and warm brick walls. The living area highlights a modern fireplace that leads into the 700 square foot garden. The interior layout also presents a mezzanine lounge, a secondary kitchen, and a media room which can be accessed by the glass staircase or glass elevator. The entire fourth floor boasts the primary bedroom suite with a fireplace, expansive dressing room, and terrace. Stepping outside on the terrace, the space offers a hot tub and wellness area with glass-walled sauna. Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Marques.

Seth Semilof: How was the movement [to creating your own company]? You moved around at the beginning of COVID.

Darin Marques: I left [Ivan Sher Group] in December of 2019 and moved over here to start my team. Then, we rolled around to March, and everything shuts down. I am thinking, “What did I do?” but everything worked out. There was this incredible rebound that started late August, early September of last year. We more than made up for it in the fourth quarter of last year. We grossed almost 22 million in sales just in the fourth quarter and this year we have been off to an incredible start. We are currently sitting at 54 million in sales and on track to break 100 million this year.

SS: How did you get into real estate? Was that your first profession? Tell us a little about your first moves in your career.

DM: Believe it or not, I started working when I was 14. I was into bodybuilding at the time, and I started working for a local health food store here. I worked for them for about five years until I was 19 and one of our customers offered me my first sales opportunity, which was outside sales for a construction company here in town. This is what led me into luxury. I worked for him for a few months as a project manager, then he moved me into sales. I was selling high-end materials for custom home construction: fireplaces, windows, mirrors, shower doors, and all that stuff. The one area that he did not have anybody to focus on was custom homes.

SS: How long did it take you to get your first deal whether it be a listing or a sale?

DM: In my first month, I landed two one and a half-million-dollar deals, which, at that time, would be the equivalent of three or four million now. Both of those were prior customers of mine from when I sold construction materials, and they ended up listing their homes with me. My first 90 days were incredible, but nine months afterward was nothing. The first five years in real estate from 2009 to 2014 was tough. I was going to quit and every year, thankfully, I had two great people who believed in me. The turning point was when I went and met with Ivan. I said, “I am at rock bottom. I am broke. I cannot afford to pay my dues.” He said, “This is the best thing. Everything from here is up.” I move forward and about 90 days later, ASCAYA came to me ready to reopen and start selling luxury home lots again.

SS: What advice would you give to people starting out?

DM: I think anybody who is successful knows that you cannot do it all on your own and to surround yourself with the right people. The other thing I tell all new agents now, I say, "Keep a job for at least a year. Take all the money that you are making from real estate and put that away because that is what is going to finance your business." You are starting a business and any business owner knows that you cannot walk into any business without having money for a startup. It really comes down to time blocking and being organized with your time.

SS: 18 months ago, you went to launch your own business. What made you decide to do that?

DM: I was managing ASCAYA and overseeing 32 agents plus admin at our main office. It was like drinking water from a fire hose for about a year, but it gave me a great opportunity to learn a lot really quickly about managing agents and running a team. It gave me an opportunity, and it gave me confidence. When my contract was up at ASCAYA after five years, I went back and tried to be an agent on the team, and I realized that was not me. I did not want to just be in sales; I wanted to build something. As an entrepreneur, I had all these ideas, and I knew it was not my business. It was scary, to say the least, but it was the best thing that I could have ever done.

Highly acclaimed musical artist Elton John and his husband, filmmaker David Furnish, have acquired a sprawling real estate portfolio with properties across the globe. The couple owns various estates in the U.K., lavish homes in the south of France as well as in Venice, Italy. In the United States, they also own a mansion sized condo in Atlanta, Georgia but reportedly spend most of their time at an impressive two-house compound in Beverly Hills, California.

Now, John and Furnish are adding yet another property to their portfolio with a second Beverly Hills residence. This newfound abode is actually the property immediately neighboring to their longtime residence. The home was purchased from a family who has reportedly owned the house for decades before selling it to John and Furnish in an off market for $8.5 million.

Located in the coveted neighborhood of Trousdale Estates, John and Furnish’s newfound abode spans 5,343 square feet with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Built in 1968, the single story home captures a midcentury modern feel yet has been modified over the years. The exterior walls have been painted a mustard yellow and the property is walled and gated for security. As this deal took place off the market, information regarding the interior layout remains largely unknown. However, the property does offer a near half acre of exterior landscape. Out back, the space presents a swimming pool, lush lawn, and spacious motor court for multiple cars.

In 1991, the poster woman of American homelife Martha Stewart purchased an East Hamptons residence for $1.7 million. The Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia founder stated that, “It was the oldest house on the block and a total wreck,” yet “[she] decided [she] had to have it.” Over the years, the property would be renovated and become her longtime vacation home. However, she is now bidding farewell to the humble abode. While the transaction is an off-market deal, it is reported that the initial asking price was listed at $8.4 million but was finalized at a whopping $16.5 million. At nearly double the asking price, Stewart has made a massive profit and left her former residence to Kenneth Lerer, the former chairman of BuzzFeed and co-founder of the Huffington Post, and his wife, interior designer Katherine Sailer.

Built in 1873, the shingled cottage has been restored and renovated into a more contemporary space while maintaining its initial charm. Stewart, well known for her design skills, claims “it’s an old-fashioned house, but it has a clean, pristine vibe.” Although not much is known regarding the interior layout of the home, decorative elements include unique pieces acquired from various yard sales and consignment stores. With its original paneling and built-ins, the lovely vacation home features a glass-enclosed porch with teal-blue Mexican cement tiling which acts as dining area. Additionally, the space boasts newly leaded glass windows and plentiful wainscoting. Notable distinctive features consist of a marble vanity in the primary bathroom, a pink and yellow Venetian-glass chandelier in the formal dining room, and a collection of antique taxidermized fish throughout the residence.

Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Hilary.

Seth Semilof: In your bio, you went to Florida State. What did you do after school?

Hilary Farnum-Fasth: I was offered a job in Destin, Florida at Regatta Bay and that is where I got my start. I was in marketing for them and had an incredible mentor. He taught me everything to do with marketing. He always was teaching us how to sell real estate in a visionary way, but I actually did not want to sell real estate because my mom had been a real estate agent. Obviously, I was always meant to be in it and the developer saw that in me. He said, “Listen, you are sitting here on site doing the marketing, but sometimes, clients are coming in and the agents are out in the field. You are the one talking about the real estate, and I would be so much more comfortable if you had your real estate license.” I got the license and literally the day I got licensed, he said, “Oh, by the way, I need you to become an agent because we just had somebody move on.” That is how I got into real estate and, of course, it was the best thing I ever did.

SS: Tell us about how long it took you to start getting into sales. Did you have success immediately with that?

HFF: Ironically, I did have success immediately, but it was because I went all in. I actually invested in myself heavily. What I mean by that is everything was pulling way back and the first thing that people do is the thing they should not do, which is they stop paying for all the marketing. They get fear-based and fear drives them which for me, fear is not even in there at all. There was a local newspaper where if you had an ad in there, you were it. I did these full-page ads that cost a fortune. I went all in, so it allowed me to build very quickly and stand out very quickly.

SS: How did you come up with the entrepreneurial idea to bring Corcoran to your area?

HFF: They actually chose me as fate would have it. They had decided Corcoran was going to start having affiliates and they were looking for key brokers. They wanted a partnership with specific brokers, and they had identified me. As a broker, I had never ever had any interest or desire to be under a national brand. I had actually always been an independent broker, but Corcoran was that one brand that I always modeled after. I thought they had figured it all out and I love their messaging.

SS: What is some advice that you could give to a new agent or anyone that is getting into the business today?

HFF: This did not happen overnight because it is 20 plus years of loyalty. I did my job in cultivating those relationships and they now want to refer everybody to me. It should take a little time to cultivate that loyalty and those referrals. The goal is to make it a long-lasting career instead of this immediate overnight, make a lot of money type thing. I am growing something that is going to sustain for years and years, 10 years from now, 20 years from now. It is actually one of the coolest careers in that way.

SS: Where do you see yourself and your business in the next three to five years?

HFF: I definitely plan to open more Corcoran Reveries all throughout the southeast. I cannot wait to bring this brand to all the areas it is a perfect fit for. We are going to continue to grow and provide insanely high-level training at a luxury premium for agents because that is something missing in the market. Someone gave me that privilege when I started, and I want to give that now to all the agents that come and decide to be with us.

In 2018, popstar Kelly Clarkson and her now divorced husband, Brandon Blackstock, purchased their then brand-new home in Encino, California. The humble abode was bought at a price of $8.5 million and has undergone several renovations over the years. However, with Clarkson and Blackstock’s split, their real estate portfolio is experiencing some changes.

Last year, Clarkson quietly unloaded her rural Nashville retreat for $3 million. Then, earlier this year, she sold her lakefront mansion in Hendersonville, Tennessee for $6.3 million as well as purchased a vintage Toluca Lake estate for $5.4 million. Now, she is officially bidding farewell to her Encino residence after nearly a year of listing, taking down, and relisting on the market. The initial asking price was offered at just under $10 million but the sale was ultimately secured at $8.24 million.

Clarkson’s Encino home rests behind the gates of the prestigious Royal Oaks neighborhood. The property spans half an acre with 10,108 square feet and, between the main residence and the two-story guesthouse, presents a total of eight ensuite bedrooms and eight baths. In June, the duo also listed their Encino, California abode for $16.75 million. Now, Jonas and Turner are on the purchasing end of real estate deals with a newfound mansion in Miami, Florida. The residence originally belonged to legendary Cuban American musician Willy Chirino and was listed for $12 million but eventually was sold to Jonas and Turner for $11 million.

Built in 1980, Jonas and Turner are now located in the posh community of Bay Point with a property spanning 10,416 square feet with six bedrooms and 8.5 baths. The three-story home opens to spacious living area with 30 feet high walls. The lavish all white kitchen is equipped with Calacatta marble counters that waterfall off the island. Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Modell.

Seth Semilof: After college [studying sociology and psychology], what did you do Leslie?

Leslie Modell: I pursued my music career with various different entrepreneurial businesses in between. Then, somewhere around 2004, I started to get the real estate bug. We were moving around a lot within Long Island to New York, etc., and I said, “looks like a fun job.”  I am a people person. I love to talk, and I am a good salesperson. I have always done sales my entire life, so I thought that the connection was very strong for me to branch out into real estate.

SS: When you got into the real estate business, what was your strategy coming in as a rookie?

LM: As a rookie, it is really important to get in at the base. Get your foundation set and that foundation will carry you the rest of your career. When I started, I did some hardcore walking to various buildings, introducing myself to different doormen, understanding floor plans understanding, researching different buildings, and getting educated. That is the most important takeaway of today: being an educated agent is everything. Knowing exactly the questions somebody will ask you about a specific building because typically it is the same question. If you are one step ahead of the game, you are always going to be that much more educated to someone and to give a feeling of trust and security to that seller or that buyer.

SS: You started small to get the singles and doubles and grew. Tell us how you are able to be successful in that.

LM: It is all about networking, getting your voice heard, and getting your brand out there. I actually have a social media company I work with specifically for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. You have to get the word out. You have to keep doing deal after deal after deal. Get seasoned. Get confident because the confidence plays. I was never afraid of the price point because if you can do a one bedroom, you could do a four bedroom. Once you get the confidence to build your business and build the momentum, you go to the next level. That is why I tell people in my team there is no deal too small because that studio buyer four years later, could become that three- or four-bedroom buyer.

SS: Where do you see the city [New York] right now?

LM: The city is definitely bouncing back. Those COVID discounts are in the rearview mirror. There are some discounted and there are some values still out in the fields but not like there was. I have personally been involved in multiple offer situations, so I do see a really good upward trajectory toward getting out of this cycle and moving into the next cycle. My business personally has been phenomenal. I have lots of contracts out. I have lots of my listings either closed or in contracts. We are certainly getting traction in the market.

SS: Where do you see your brand going over the next three to five years? Tell us a little about what you foresee in the future.

LM: I see myself growing constantly. I always know there is another plateau to reach, so right now, I have been building out my team. I have three people on my team and the next step would be growing that team, constantly evolving, constantly growing, and maybe getting into new development in the future. The sky is the limit for everyone in this industry and that is why I love it. Nothing is too far of a reach. You have a goal, you set your goal, and you go for it.

Popstar Liam Payne first rose to fame as part of The X Factor UK in 2010 when he was made part of boyband One Direction. Over the years, the musical group would become an international phenomenon before taking an indefinite hiatus in 2016. However, only a year later in December of 2018, Fenty listed her newly purchased property on the market. The price was presented at $7.495 million while simultaneously being offered as a rental at $35,000 per month. Since then, the home has been taken off the market before news this week that it has been listed once again. Now, the lavish mansion is presented at $7.8 million, an even higher price than its initial listing.

Built in 2015, Fenty’s former residence spans 7,130-square-feet with six bedrooms and 10 baths. The interior presents a formal living room with a tiled fireplace, ceiling medallion, and a dazzling chandelier. The family room features wooden floors, a fireplace, tray ceiling, and lit arched inset shelving. The dining room highlights beamed ceilings and steel framed arched windows. Further into the home, the space flows into the chef’s kitchen with a black marble island, bar, and backlit ceiling beams. The real estate transaction was executed in an off-market deal while James was still with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since then, the four-time MVP has been playing with the Los Angeles Lakers and in 2017, acquired a second Brentwood home. The 2017 contemporary abode was brand new and purchased at a price of $23 million. Now, Los Angeles Lakers star is bidding farewell to his first Brentwood residence at a slight loss. The traditional style abode was initially listed in March at $20.5 million, which is already less than his purchase price six years prior. The property has now been sold at $19.6 million.

Built in 2011, James’ former Brentwood residence rests on the “coveted Rockingham Rim.” The gated mansion spans 9,440-square-foot with six bedrooms. The expansive interior offers “every imaginable amenity” with formal living and dining rooms, a lavish master suite, terrace, ensuite bathroom, two closets, elevator, and three car garage. Additionally, the kitchen is equipped with a breakfast nook and one of two family rooms opens to a loggia with heaters. Decorative elements of the home include Oakwood floors, detailed ceilings, and multiple fireplaces. Entertainment options are presented in the form of a media room, paneled library, gym, and a memorable basketball hoop. The lavish space also offers state-of-the-art audio and video, security, and home automation. Stepping outside, the exterior boasts a half-acre lot with a lap pool, spa, poolside cabana, and picturesque Californian views.

Kanye West has become widely recognized and popularized in contemporary culture with his successful music career, fashion brand, eclectic character, and now with his newest real estate purchase. West once visited Naoshima, the Japanese “art island” designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Tadao Ando, and reportedly became enamored with the “life-changing” place. Now with his newest real estate deal, West has acquired his own artful residence with the purchase of a miraculous Malibu home.

In an off-market deal, West spent $57.3 million on his newfound Malibu residence. The part house, part art space was designed by Tadao Ando as one of his only homes in the United States. Last year, the property was listed for a whopping $75 million before being removed shortly after. While West was able to purchase the property at an immensely discounted rate, this sale still marks the second most expensive real estate purchase for a Malibu residence this year.

West’s newfound abode spans just under 5,700 square feet stretching from the road down to the beach. The vaguely Brutalist-inspired house features 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. With masterful design, each level of the home serves a distinct purpose. The lowest floor presents three ensuite guest bedrooms. The middle level boasts the public areas of the home such as the living room, kitchen, and powder room. The top floor is exclusively reserved for the owner with a penthouse level bedroom suite and a rooftop terrace overlooking the oceanside.

Although photographs of the interior are not available online, Marmol Radziner, the L.A.-based architecture firm who built the house in collaboration with Ando, described the decor as minimalistic “yet warm." While the homes exterior does not offer a spacious yard or greenery, it presents access to the nearby picturesque beach and the space serves as its own unique approach to a seaside Malibu home.

Nick Rivera Caminero, more notably recognized as singer-songwriter and rapper Nicky Jam, is deemed as one of the pioneers of the reggaeton genre. He has collaborated with artists such as J Balvin and Daddy Yankee and in August, released his most recent album titled "Infinity." Earlier this year, the musician sold his Palm Island home for $3.1 million. Now, he is making news once again for another real estate deal.

Mere months after parting ways with Palm Island, Caminero has purchased a $6 million unit at One Thousand Museum. State records show the sale was executed through Green House Domestic Holdings Four LLC. Designed by the late Pritzker prize winning architect Zaha Hadid, the luxury condominium complex is reportedly the most photographed high rise in downtown Miami. In 2019, Caminero’s newfound unit was previously sold for $4.5 million. Other notable residents of the luxury tower include David and Victoria Beckham and hospitality entrepreneur David Grutman.

Located in downtown Miami, Caminero’s One Thousand Museum unit spans half the size of his floor at 4,600 square feet. The extravagant space features four bedrooms and five bathrooms. The interior highlights a minimalistic bathroom, Italian designed walk-in closets, and state of the art home automation and lighting designed by German light designer Uli Petzold, For a seamless indoor and outdoor flow, the space offers an oversized terrace overlooking the beautiful Biscayne Bay. Luxe amenities of One Thousand Museum include an aquatic center with indoor pool, sky lounge, private rooftop helipad, 24-hour security, and valet staff.

Tony Rodriguez-Tellaheche of Prestige Realty Group represented the buyer. Darin Feldman from Insignia International Properties represented the seller.

Shortly after the tumultuous turn in Loughlin and Giannulli’s career with the college admissions scandal and their respective sentences, the controversial public figures are settling back into their former elite lifestyle. Last summer, they purchased a modern farmhouse in Hidden Hills for $9.5 million and now, the couple are once again making news with the purchase of their newfound vacation home. Located in one of the most exclusive private residential communities in La Quinta, California, Loughlin and Giannulli have recently purchased a $13 million vacation home at the Madison Club. The former owners of the home were Michael and Alexis Rowell who cofounded technology startup Assurance. The duo purchased the property in late 2019 for $9.5 million and will be walking away from the new deal with a massive profit.

As this deal occurred off the market and the property was not publicly offered for sale, some of the details in regard to this residence remain unknown. However, tax records indicate that the extravagant abode spans 9,300 square feet with five bedrooms and 5.5 baths. The single level residence showcases an open and airy atmosphere with stone flooring. For seamless indoor outdoor living, the walls of glass can retract and the expansive space offers patios for alfresco entertaining. The interior also presents a wet bar, a movie theater, a powder room with its own light-up stone sink, and a completely marble bathroom.

Stepping outside, the exterior highlights an immersive summer vacation experience. The inner courtyard features a reflecting pool, film projection screen, and further outside rests a substantially larger infinity edge pool and two spas. Scott Samuel "Scooter" Braun has become a prevalent name in contemporary pop music as he is credited for discovering Justin Bieber and currently serves the manager of several successful artists such as Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Carly Rae Jepsen, David Guetta, Hilary Duff, and the Black Eyed Peas. Most notably though, the powerful industry figure has gained much attention for his public discourse with musical superstar Taylor Swift. The publicized conflict centered upon the ownership of Swift records, which he ultimately sold the masters for in November of 2020 at $300 million. Since then, Swift has been prompted to record and produce “Taylor’s version” as rereleases of her older discography. Aside from musical drama, Braun was also recently sued by a former Goldman Sachs partner over a defunct venture.

Further than controversy on the industry side, Braun has also filed for divorce last year from businesswoman Yael Cohen. Braun and Cohen were married for seven years and have three children together. However, Braun has made news once again with the purchase of a $65 million mega mansion in Brentwood, California. In 2016, the former structure on the property was demolished and in 2021, a new residence was completed. It was listed on the market for $70 million on June 19 and on August 31, the deal was officially closed.

Built by architect Noah Walker, the brand-new residence also highlights the work of interior designer Jamie Bush and landscape designer Christine London LTD. The expansive 19,000 square foot space boasts six bedrooms and 12 baths. Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Borges.

Seth Semilof: Tell us a little about how you went from college, growing up in Portugal, to the Caribbean.

Vasco Borges: It was absolutely by happenstance. I had done a more traditional career of economics, then I joined this consulting company called McKinsey. When you are a consultant, you get exposed to a lot of industries. There were a few options on the table. One of them was to join a restaurant group in Singapore and the other one was an opportunity to come to the Caribbean to work. I had never been to the Caribbean before, but they promised me a beachfront bedroom in a five star resort, so I came here. It was a vibrant place and I absolutely loved both the real estate and the hospitality component. That is why the idea of building something where people are going to leave with lifestyle experiences, but also hospitality was really, really exciting.

SS: I would love to learn how you came up with the game plan or strategy because you came out and built three different luxury villas. What transpired into that?

VB: At the time, if you wanted to own real estate in Turks and Caicos or the majority of the Caribbean islands, you could either on a condominium or a standalone home. I could not figure out why we could not combine both. You have the great things of a resort, which is all the amenities or services taking care for you, and combine that with the privacy of your home. You really just go in and it is ready for you. I could not convince my employer to do it at the time, so I decided to go in on my own.

SS: What makes Turks and Caicos so amazing? You have not chosen to go to any other Caribbean islands, just mainly stuck to Turks and Caicos.

VB: An amazing combination of things. It has an amazing infrastructure. It has US dollar, UK law, and above all, beautiful beaches. You can have breakfast in New York and lunch on the beach. It is very unusual to get, but we have very low-density development, a fantastic legal setup, and quality people. We are 22 miles outside of Manhattan, so Wall Street is a big part of our market. We are also seeing people coming in droves from New York to New Jersey to the suburbs. We are seeing tremendous movement in Westfield because interest rates are historically low, so it is a win-win.

SS: Where do you see the next 12 months specifically for Turks and Caicos?

VB: We have seen an amazing amount of money coming in and a lot of interest in our homes. We presold all the homes, even before acquiring the land. There is a lot of demand there, particularly for the high-end products. I think that will continue, but also, what you see in some of these locations is this new way with investment that is helping us build more amenities. An expansion of the ecosystem around us helps as that you really need people to come into the islands. Our purpose is continuing to grow because people want everything to be as easy as possible. We are putting together all these protocols and trying to make the experience top, top, top notch for our client.

SS: Where do you see your company in the next five to 10 years as you are expanding the brand?

VB: We are very happy with this location. Being on the best beach, we have some amazing homes coming our way. Maybe we will do something else here, but I think our next wave of growth once we have solidified and built our roster, the team is to go and expand abroad. I think what we have done here can be done in pretty much any location where you have wealth coming in, interest in real estate, and interest in a good lifestyle experience.

On May 26, the celebrity couple sold their Beverly Hills abode to renowned musical artist Adele. Reportedly, Adele purchased several Bel Air properties with the intent to create a private compound. Richie and Madden’s 5,515 square foot former home was settled at a price of $9.95 million. However, the news that was not reported at the time was on May 13 when Richie had already closed another deal on an even larger Beverly Hills mansion for a $10.15 million.

Built in 1987, Richie and Madden’s newfound 6,100-square-foot space has been recently redesigned by married duo and SIMO Design co-founders Sam Gnatovich and Alexi Rennalls. The five bedroom, six bath residence was inspired by historical Parisian architecture and the Chanel flagship store in Paris. Stepping inside, the home opens to an elegant curving stairway to contrast its box like exterior structure. Distinctive design features include immense pocket doors and clean lines combined with more traditional crown molding. Beyoncé, singer songwriter and pop culture icon, has recently made news with her newest campaign in collaboration with Tiffany & Co. In the photoshoot, she became the fourth woman in the world to wear a 128.54-carat yellow gem. Since its release, the advertisement has become controversial due to the diamond’s colonial origins as well as the use of a never-before-seen Jean-Michel Basquiat “Equals Pi” print rendered in Tiffany Blue. Nonetheless, the project began with benevolent intentions as Tiffany promises to donate $2 million to scholarship and internship programs for historically black academic institutions.

While Beyoncé and Tiffany set out to highlight an extravagant $30 million diamond necklace, the mansion where the campaign was shot showcased its own luxurious nature. Located in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles, the expansive mansion was designed by the award-winning architect, Zoltan Pali. The lavish home was completed in December of 2018 and listed at $56 million. In May of this year, the price was reduced to $42 million. Pali states, “Given its prominent positioning above a relatively developed neighborhood, the motivation behind the design of the home was to create a residence that could meld into its surroundings while maximizing views.”

The bedazzling Bel Air spread spans 18,850 square feet with the nine bedrooms and ten full baths. The three-story building is comprised of glass walls to give the illusion of an airy and floating atmosphere. Stepping inside, the sprawling mansion presents dual chef’s kitchens, living rooms, a 1,000-bottle wine room, a Dolby Atmos theater, and a wellness center. Decorative elements of the home consist of gold finishes, limestone from Portugal and Italy, and black and white marble imported Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, and China. Stepping outside, the exterior space offers a 6,000-square-foot space with shaded patios, lounging areas, fire pits, an LED-lit ozone pool, and a hot tub. Additionally, the 1.55-acre lot boasts a 30-car motor court, a four-bed guest house, and lush greenery.

American supermodel Karlie Kloss and her husband, Joshua Kushner, have owned various homes together but were recently brought back to Kushner’s family business, Kushner Properties, as buyers. Kloss is notably recognized for her work as a Victoria’s Secret angel and in 2015, launched Kode With Klossy as a coding program for young girls. Her husband, Joshua Kushner, is the founder of venture capital firm Thrive Capital and while he does not have a role at his family’s reigning real estate company, the business was once led by his brother, Jared Kushner, former White House senior adviser and the son-in-law of former United States President Donald Trump.

Built in 1885, the Puck Building was acquired by Kushner Properties over three decades ago. The iconic Romanesque Revival property originally designed by Albert Wagner consists of nine stories and six limited edition penthouse units. In 2015, the Kloss and Kushner’s newly acquired unit was initially listed at a whopping $66 million. Since then, the space has been listed on and off the market as it was reportedly serving as a rental residence at $1.25 million a year. In March of 2019, the home was relisted at $42.5 million. With Kloss and Kushner only recently under contract, the final purchase price is not yet available to report. However, it was last listed for $42.5 million.

Kloss and Kushner’s newly acquired abode is known as Penthouse One of the historic building. As a limited edition of six, recently completed Penthouses, this duplex spans more than 7,200 square feet with 5,100 square feet of private outdoor space. The lavish loft melds together a modern aesthetic with custom finishes and prewar decoratives. With sweeping views of the bustling cityscape, the space boasts oversized windows, cast-iron columns, and barrel-vaulted ceilings. Since then, the space has been completely restored by architect John Bertram and designer Sarah Shetter. Now, the half century old Beverly Hills home is in Ellen’s ownership.

Located in the posh community of Hidden Valley Estates, DeGeneres and de Rossi’s newfound property spans 4,614 square feet with five bedrooms and 4.5 baths. The mid-century offers decorative elements of terrazzo flooring, wood finishes, vintage details, and redwood tongue and groove siding. The open floor plan highlights floor-to-ceiling windows and glass walls for a comfortable and airy atmosphere. The living space features built in bookshelves, a distinctive light fixture, and plentiful sunlight. In 2015, Mary Kate married Olivier Sarkozy, a French banker and half brother of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy. In 2014, Sarkozy purchased the Midtown East home from artist David Deutsch for $13.5 million through a limited liability company. Prior to The Weeknd’s recent purchase, his newly acquired Bel Air abode was owned by Dutch media mogul Reinout Oerlemans and his wife, competitive cyclist Danielle Oerleman. The couple originally purchased the lavish home in 2015 for a price of $21.4 million. They spent three years renovating the expansive property with the addition of ultramodern amenities and 13,000 square feet of space. Reportedly, the Oerlemans were not interested in selling their glamourous residence before receiving word of The Weeknd’s inquiry. The Williams team represented the sellers in this transaction while Angel Salvador of Beverly Hills Estates represented the buyer.

The luxurious Bel Air property spans 1.6 acres of picturesque land and features approximately 33,000 square feet of ling space. With the Oerlemans’ renovations, the residence has been upgraded from its initial early 2000s aesthetic to a more contemporary look. Distinctive decorative elements of the home consist of orange gloss paint on the living room walls, leather belts repurposed into drawer handles, and office walls lined with wooden sunburst panels.  Other luxe amenities include a gym, movie theater, music studio, sauna, hammam, and indoor pool. Stepping outside, the expansive exterior showcases a a sports court, an infinity pool with waterfall, and a dramatic split staircase leading from the upper patio to the lawn which overlooks the beautiful Bel Air Country Club.

In April of 2018, Leonardo DiCaprio of “Titanic,” “Wolf of Wall Street,” and “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” added a newly purchased property to his already impressive real estate portfolio. The Hollywood A-lister acquired a lavish Los Feliz residence on Red Oak Drive from musician Moby through a trust. The sale was closed at $4.91 million, and the estate titled Red Oak Manor reportedly served as home to a member of DiCaprio’s family. Now, the Oscar-winning actor is bidding farewell to the marvelous manor listing it at $5.75 million.

As his primary residence, it is reported that DiCaprio calls Malibu his home. First purchasing a house there in 1998, he paid $23 million for a more expansive 1.8-acre spread in 2016. Other notable properties he’s acquired consist of Madonna’s former home he purchased in the 1990s, a mid-century modern space in Palm Springs, a chic New York City apartment, a compound property on the Sunset Strip, and an island in Belize. Although the star boasts several impressive estates, he is equally generous with his property assets. Earlier this year, DiCaprio’s purchased a Los Feliz home from “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson for $7.1 million and gifted it to his mother. Additionally, he also paid $4.9 million for another Los Feliz home to gift his father.

Built in 1926, Red Oak Manor spans 4,644 square feet and features five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Located near the foothills of Griffith Park and beyond the gates of Los Feliz Oaks and its forested setting, the old-fashioned English style property has since been “restored and totally reimagined” by Moby. With its traditional custom millwork, groin-vault ceilings, and elaborate fireplaces, the contemporary makeover presents a new kitchen with marble countertops and walk-in pantry, formal dining, lofted study, gym, steam room, and a security system. The spacious common areas offer hardwood floors, high ceilings, and stately paned windows for a clean, neutral aesthetic with plentiful lighting.

On the upper level of the two-story home, the two primary suites offer theatrical drama with their marble bathrooms yet still evoke a comfortable feel. The guest suite has its own secret entrance with access to a full bath and steam room. Outside, the expansive exterior descends to a leafy space with a swimming pool, spa, patio, and al fresco dining area.

In 1891, the historic East Hampton estate was built by acclaimed Grey Gardens architect Joseph Greenleaf Thorpe for the homeowner’s wife, Laura Brevoort Sedgwick. Following a near century and list of elite owners, Calvin Klein purchased the property from the son of Juan Trippe, the founder of Pan American World Airways. The real estate sale took place in 1987 with Klein’s second wife, Kelly Rector, where the formerly married couple spent $3.6 million to acquire the impressive property.

Following the first few years after purchase, the duo executed substantial renovations to the home and eventually had it featured in the 1992 edition of Vogue Decorations. While the celebrity couple officially divorced in 2006 and were reportedly separated for a decade prior, Rector continued to reside within the Hamptons home. Despite her stay nearly fifteen years following their split and her former initials “K. K.” plastered on the front gate, the deed was still in Klein’s name. This past week, the estate was sold in two off-market transactions to undisclosed buyers hidden behind an LLC. The sale consisted of the main property which sold for $75 million as well as the adjacent strip of undeveloped land for an additional $10 million.

The lavish Hamptons estate built in 1891 is situated on 8.4 acres of lush land and features a main mansion as well as a boathouse. Shortly after Klein and Rector purchased the residence over three decades ago, they summoned the help of renowned architect Thierry Despont to modernize the interior space. Spanning over 10,100 square feet, the primary house is a shingle-style mansion including five bedrooms and eight bathrooms. While information in regards to the home’s interior design is limited, Klein and Rector are infamously infatuated with sleek white interiors and perfectly executed construction projects. Some notable renovations to their former Hamptons estate consist of a swimming pool and boathouse on Georgica Pond pictured in the aforementioned 1992 issue of Vogue Decorations.

In 2017, the famed Hollywood star purchased a contemporary mansion in Clearwater, Florida for $3 million under Hawker Investment Trust, Travolta and his late wife Kelly Preston’s go-to trust in which his sisters are listed as trustees. Located a mere mile from the Scientology headquarters, Travolta has served as a devout member of the controversial Church of Scientology since 1975. Clearwater also provides residence to fellow Scientologists Tom Cruise, who lives in a downtown penthouse, and Kirstie Alley, who owns a multi-residence waterfront compound.

Now, Travolta is bidding farewell to his former Florida home for $4 million. The property was initially listed in March for $4.65 million but nonetheless, the 67-year-old actor is walking away with a profit. This sale comes about a year following the passing of his late wife Kelly Preston in their home due to breast cancer. In January 2020, Travolta sold his $18 million Spanish-style mansion in Los Angeles and earlier this year, parted ways with his longtime waterfront residence in Maine for $5 million. He currently owns a $2.65 million Calabasas home which he purchased with Preston in 2019.

Travolta’s former Florida home spans more than an acre of picturesque land and includes five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. The open floor interior presents a modern two-story staircase and spacious foyer. The living area is equipped with an electric fireplace. The kitchen offers bar seating and a breakfast space. Upstairs, the primary suite features an ensuite bathroom with a contemporary encased spa bath and a terrace overlooking the harbor. Other luxe amenities of the home include a seaside infinity-edge pool, a separate one-room cabana, and an artist’s studio with a bath. Resting on the western shores of Clearwater Harbor, the waterfront estate is heavily gated and surrounded by foliage. The exterior space consists of an expansive boat dock and boasts panoramic views of the gleaming coast and skyline.

The fictional home of Spider-Man’s archnemesis, the Green Goblin, is a real-life residence in Tudor City, New York that has recently been listed on the real estate market. The unit rests in the Windsor Tower at 5 Tudor City Place and is currently priced at $1.99 million. The space was pictured in all three of the "Spider-Man" films between 2002 and 2007 where acclaimed actor Willem Dafoe portrayed the vilifying figure against Tobey Maguire’s web slinging superhero. With 30+ years of real estate experience, he got his real estate license at eighteen. He says, "I went to Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, which was close enough that I could come home on the weekends, see open houses, and start to get a book up business going, so when I graduated, I had a client base to start with." He continues, "My father did real estate. I grew up in this business my entire life, so I loved it from from a very, very young age. I knew exactly what I wanted to do. My parents said, 'you have to get a college education,' so I went somewhere local to hit the ground running and that is how it all unfolded."

Here are some of the questions and answers from the exclusive interview with Isoldi.

Seth Semilof: Where do you think your skills were? Is it sales? Is it working hard? You found a marketing strategy. Tell us about that.

Frank D. Isoldi: First of all, you have to work hard. Everybody thinks this business is so easy and glamorous and fun and it is, it is all that, but you have to work. I worked. I came home from college on the weekends to see open houses. I wasn't afraid to put the time in. Then, it is networking. It is what Haute Residence does. There are great networking opportunities out there. You have to be a people person and you have to be willing to you know put yourself out there. It is all about marketing branding and getting your name out there consistently.

SS: How was it going from working in a family business to now working in a corporate environment?

FDI: What I do love about the offices is that it is very competitive. There are a lot of top agents, but we really, really, really are a family. I was certainly intimidated with a change going from a small boutique family run business to this major company, but I think I thrived. I learned to stay in my lane and be respectful. Then we became close friends and family. It has been a really wonderful experience.

SS: How has technology changed your business? Do you think referrals are still the most important part of being successful in real estate?

FDI: Technology is life changing. I can make appointments from the car. You can put yourself out there on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. This is a relationship business. You can now create relationships with people all around the world. Start to get referrals from people that you have never even met before. If they feel like they can trust you both online and in person, they are going to refer to you for business. Social media has dramatically changed this business.

SS: Where have you seen the most success in your career?

FDI: When you are talking about luxury properties and luxury clientele, print is still very important for our business. Everything is on social media. It is easy, quick, free, instant, but magazine are still a very, very important aspect of marketing high end luxury properties. I don't think that social media can replace print and print marketing, but it is certainly a major enhancement.

SS: You said the market is on fire. Where are the buyers coming from?

FDI: We are 22 miles outside of Manhattan, so Wall Street is a big part of our market. We are also seeing people coming in droves from New York to New Jersey, to the suburbs. We are seeing tremendous movement in Westfield because interest rates are still historically low, so it is a win-win.

SS: What niche are you doing now or is your business just so big that it is continuing its a machine?

FDI: I have hit the point on my business where I want more business. I want to make more money every year and continue to beat last year's production. Also, we want to make the experience for our client better every year and every transaction. Our purpose is continuing to grow now because you know people want and they want everything to be as easy as possible. We are putting together all these protocols and trying to make the experience top, top, top notch for our client.

The real estate deal cost $8.3 million and was executed through an entity linked to her network. The media magnate reportedly purchased the property without visiting the home in person. After three years of ownership, the television host has decided to bid farewell to her island home as she reportedly lacks the time to maximize its usage. Recorded on Tuesday, Winfrey has officially sold her waterfront residence for $14 million in an off-market deal. Jen Cameron, vice president of Coldwell Banker Bain’s global luxury division, represented the buyer in the deal who is listed under the title of Lophodytes LLC. The billionaire public figure currently resides at her self-proclaimed Promised Land, a 70-acre ranch property located in Montecito, California. With an impressive real estate portfolio, Winfrey also owns homes in Telluride, Colorado and Maui, Hawaii.

Madroneagle Estate on Orcas Island spans 40 acres of lush landscape and features a 7,303-square-foot main house with four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. Decorative elements of the home consist of an eccentric copper and slate roof on the exterior and a luxuriously rustic cabin interior with finishes of rare, reclaimed wood. The picturesque property is perfect for entertaining as it offers a spacious living area with stone fireplace, kitchen with oversized center island and built-in pizza oven, and adjacent dining room.
